The eye specialist called with the MRI results, and there is no evidence of a tumor or growth!! Thank God!! We are so relieved. They said it's still very important that he sees a neurologist to find out why his nerves are swollen, because prolonged swelling can lead to permanent vision damage. But we were told multiple times that a tumor was the worst case scenario, so it's very reassuring that's off the table!

He meets with a neurologist on Monday, so we are hopeful that this issue can be resolved with medication or something simple. Thanks again for all of the thoughts/prayers/positive thoughts! I'm so happy that we can have a relaxing weekend rather than waiting on edge for results.

@Pepper: that is wonderful news! Without knowing your DH's history, this may not be helpful, but both my father and I have enlarged optic nerves - it seems to be genetic and is just anatomical, it doesn't cause any problems. I've switched eye doctors a few times and they always seem alarmed and want me to do tons of testing, until I tell them about the history.

@CakeLady: My DH has something similar where is optic nerves look a bit off.

@Pepper: He's gone to the same optometrist for years without any mention of the optic nerves looking a bit off. Then on a routine visit a few years ago the eye dr said his optic nerves look enlarged so he had to go to a specialist to be tested for glaucoma or other issues. He went for lots of testing that year and everything looks ok. Now he just has to go annually to the specialist.

@Pepper: I missed this when you first posted, but am so thankful the outcome was good! How scary. DS had a brain MRI this year to look for a tumor, and I was sick for days over it. We had a clean scan, too, so I know the relief you're feeling right now. Hopefully the swelling is something simple they can correct and that he's on the mend soon!

I'm so sorry you are going through this I have never been though a scare with my DH and his health but we went through a scare where the health of our (then) unborn baby was being seriously questioned and we had to take a specific test that took 10 days to get results to see if everything was alright. In those 10 days we both were worried until we were literally sick. Despite the awful circumstance in that time we talked more about deeper things than we had in a long time. We were 100% open about feelings and even though we were both so so scared it gave some comfort to know that we were being open and honest and no matter the outcome we were a team. And everything turned out alright too! Have hope and just support your DH in anyway you can HUGS
