@ladybee: I still eat hot dogs. We have season tickets to the Orioles and I can't go to a ball game without a hot dog!

Mmm, this thread has turned into a wish list of delicious for me!
Here's another one I forgot to mention: I use face wash with salicylic acid in it. Technically that's aspirin, which is a medication pregnant women aren't supposed to use, but I really think the amount that is absorbed into my bloodstream from being on my face about 30 seconds is negligible. I did buy a different cleanser at Whole Foods, trying to be a good pregnant lady, but it made my face bright red so I am sticking to what I've been using!

Ladybee, I have been eating hot dogs too. I didn't realize those were against the rules.

@sera_87: I was wondering this too! Actually, I suspect they eat sushi. Most of the countries on the "healthiest" populations lists are by the sea and have lots of fish in their diets. So, though I'm not pregnant, I'm feeling like sushi is not going to be something I avoid...which is good, because I *adore* it

I'm pretty sure all of them... Especially since the first time around, I didn't know I was pregnant for a good three months! (Long story)

I'm so upset that you're not supposed to have queso at mexican restaurants! Anyone know what the risk is and if it really matters?
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
@walnutems: I researched it and I don't think there is a risk. Queso blanco and fresca (the white Mexican cheeses) are not recommended because they are made from raw milk, but 1) a lot of queso at restaurants does not use those cheeses and 2) it is heated so it kills the germs.

I had raw egg yolks in my breakfast smoothies practically every day, drank raw milk, and ate salmon at least three times a week. =P I had raw sushi once, and had some kombucha, which has a teeny tiny bit of alcohol in it.

@sera_87: They still eat sushi (according to my co-workers Japanese wife)! We live on the coast and have access to really good quality sushi places, so I definitely indulged in spicy tuna here and there without guilt!!

@walnutems: I'm with @daniellemybelle, I eat queso all the time. I think in Mexico it may be an issue but I'm pretty sure in my Ohio suburb they are buying cheese and melting it so I'm not worried. Plus its heated to such a high temp!

With DS, I somehow missed the salicylic acid rule. I used my same face wash throughout my entire pregnancy. I've been trying to use a different face wash this time around but my skin is not happy about it!
Oh, and with this pregnancy, I've been eating a lot of fried eggs. I don't cook the yolk until it's hard. I like it to be set up (not runny) but still more of an orangey color.

I had already weaned off coffee in favor of tea a few months before getting pregnant, but I still indulge in coffee ice cream on the regular. I also can't give up frozen yogurt - it's spring time in California!
Also, I had a few sips of champagne at our wedding at 16 weeks, and am constantly falling asleep on my back at 30.

@ladybee: I've avoided hot dogs so far but we're going to the baseball games this summer, so I'm sure that will fly out the window too. As my mom said, she ate hot dogs while pregnant, and fed them to us raw as babies, so they can't be that bad.
