Are most forms of exercise safe in the first trimester? Any that aren't? My first appointment is the 27th. Until then, I'm asking you girls!

When I got pregnant I was doing a beginner's yoga class weekly and jog/walking 3 times/week. My doctor told me that the yoga class was totally fine but to inform my instructor that I was pregnant so if any poses were not pregnancy safe she could tell me-- my instructor said that we didn't do anything so advanced it could hurt the baby. As for jogging I was told it was great to keep up cardio, just make sure I didn't get TOO tired/overheated and also to be very careful of my balance because sometimes you do get a bit dizzy or clumsy even early in pregnancy and they wanted me to take care to avoid falls.

You can generally safely keep doing what you used to do, just take it down a couple notches. I had to stop doing burpees and anything where I was upside down because it made me sick

Anything that isn't a contact sport and that doesn't involve lying completely flat on your back (no sit ups or certain yoga positions) but other than that if you and baby are healthy (no bleeding or cramping) then you should have no prob carrying on with the exercises you already do. They do say its not a good time to take up new sports except swimming and pregnant yoga.

So glad for this post! My appointment is the 22nd. For now, I'm doing prenatal yoga and it's been very easy. It's hard to jog/walk outdoors here during the times I'm not nauseous because of the heat so I'm hoping to spend time on the treadmill at the gym.
