How late in you pregnancy did you fly and did you have any issues?
I might need to take a flight during the end of my 32nd week and early 33rd week. My doctor says I should be fine as long as I walk around on the plane. But I'm a little worried

@Mrsbells: I can't help, but I can tell you that I am planning for the same thing. I have a trip to Las Vegas for work scheduled for my 32nd week. I know it won't be fun but like you said, as long as your OB says it's okay, you should be good to go. The drinking lots of water and walking around thing is very important, though.
How far along are you right now?

I just flew across the country at 31 weeks. I thought it was going to be terrible, but it actually wasn't that bad. It helped that DH was with me, and I had an aisle seat. I stood up to walk and use the bathroom every hour or so. Also, I balled up my winter coat and stuck it behind my low back. That made a *huge* difference for my comfort level while I was sitting.

@mediagirl: I'm 30 weeks and 3 days right now.
Its confusing know what to do, people say all these things about radiation in the plane and the pressure at high altitudes.

@Mrsbells: I don't think any of those (radiation and pressure) are really big things. Honestly, if they were, we would be told not to fly at all during pregnancy. I flew in my first trimester and second trimester and will be flying more in my second and third trimesters. If there were any worries at all about these things really causing problems, I would have quit flying as soon as I knew I was pregnant!!

I'd just check with the airline and verify their policy. You don't want to be in the position where you can travel to your destination but are too pregnant to come back! You might need a doctors note.

yes I did speak to my doctor and they are going to give me a note. The flight hasnt been booked yet so I'm not sure which airline it will be but I will check their policy first, it shouldnt be an issue since I'm only going for one weekend.

your doctor knows best. my doctor actually was VERY strict and forbid me to fly past 32 even for the holidays at 33. I think if you are flying try to stay hydrated as much as possible because traveling is so tiring and stressful.

I flew at 30 weeks and let me tell you, it was hard! I had to get up and walk frequently and of course I had to pee really often. The worst part was a 12 hour layover in Denver after an international flight. Hopefully you are not flying as far as I did!

I flew international (St. Louis to Heathrow) at 28 weeks. It was uncomfortable and I got swollen, but it wasn't horrible. My doctor gave me a note that cleared me until 34 weeks.
Make sure you get those sexy compression stockings too! Deep vein thrombosis is one of the main risks of flying while in advanced pregnancy. I flew home at 24 weeks and back at 28 and my doctor gave me a pair and told me I had to wear them.
