For those of you who have mixed race babies, how did you picture your LO looking while pregnant? Or if you're pregnant, how do you picture your LO? I'm white and hubs is Taiwanese, but I find it difficult picturing my baby looking Asian. I know he'll look Asian but I keep seeing a white, blonde haired baby. Lately I've been trying to picture a baby version of my DH. Just wondering if I'm the only one who does this.

We had no idea what M. was going to look like. With that many racial inputs, she could have come out looking like one dominantly or a blend. We still at almost 5 months don't have a final picture of her looks, but right now she definitely looks like a mix of Asian, Black and Native.

I know LO would look more Asian than White (I am Vietnamese-American and hubs is a mix of German and other European stuff). LO definitely looks more Asian (she's 6 days old today), but everyone says you can tell she's mixed.

Def know that it will look asian. (i'm 100% korean) Esp since DH looked like he was mixed with asian himself! (he's polish/german)...

We had no clue what DD was going to look like, then again we were team green so we weren't even sure boy/girl.
DH is full Mexican & I'm half (although I took to my dads side and look like a white girl). We thought for sure our children would look atleast some Hispanic BUT nope DD looks just like me AND has red hair at this point! Lol

I'm white and DH is Vietnamese, but during most of my pregnancy when I pictured my baby I pictured him being white and then would have to remind myself he was going to look Asian. By the end of my pregnancy I finally started picturing him looking Asian. I have dark hair and eyes though so I never pictured him being blonde with blue eyes or anything.

half asian babies tend to look more asian when they're born, and then look less asian as they get older. so whatever your baby looks like when he's born, his looks will definitely change!

Honestly, I never had a image in my head of what she looked like. Even when she was born I wasn't sure if she looked mixed, white or asian. But when we placed her next to my 100% asian nephew I realized how mixed she looks!

My niece is half Chinese and half Polish/European mix. If you didn't know she was half Chinese, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to tell.

@mrskc: my LO actually started out with black black hair like mine but it has started lightening. And her eyes are still TBD! They are dark but with hints of blue & green!
She's half Chinese and half German/Irish. -
@mrskc: i know! my SIL thinks it's hilarious! and we can't joke around about the milkman because SIL is the korean one!

I'm full Chinese and DH is half Chinese/half Finnish. In my opinion, you can't detect his Finnish heritage from looking at him. I think our kid will look pretty much full Asian because he or she will be just 1/4 Finnish. But who knows! My relatives (and even my own mother) have been saying for years that I don't look Chinese, whatever that means, and my dad has been mistaken for Filipino and Latino. Also, my DH was mistaken for Bolivian when we took a trip there two years ago. So maybe our family will just be mysterious and exotic to strangers. =)
P.S. OMG Mrs. Cowgirl that is the cutest kid! I love her eyes.

I read a blog of these photographers, Bobbi + Mike, and they shot family photos for this multi-racial family with two daughters with bright red hair! Genes are amazing things.

We're not a bi-racial family (boo... wish we were tho!! lol), but my sister is. Her husband is 100% Peruvian and she is a mix of European heritage; mostly German, English and Norwegian.
He definitely looks more Peruvian - though not as much as he.

I'm 100% vietnamese, DH is German/Irish. DD is 3 weeks and everyone says she looks just like daddy. When I was pregnant I assumed she would look like me since I have all the dominant genes. I love that she looks like daddy, I just hope it sticks, she had gray-blue eyes right now

my nephews are 1/2 Korean and German/French, but one def could pass as being Caucasian and the other def looks more mixed. Your second child could look very diff from your first.

I had a really hard time picturing what our LO would look like when I was pregnant. Then I saw some baby pictures of DH and started to envision that. What @Mrs. Bee said is certainly true, though .... Baby Y started out looking super Asian and now, at 13 months, he definitely is looking more Caucasian. His hair is really light now, almost auburn in the sun, exactly like mine.

I agree, 1/2 asian babies definitely look more asian when they are born. I did, but now people tend to think I look hispanic more than anything else. As a 1/4 Chinese, my DS looked a bit asian when he was born, but now, not so much! He still tends to favor my looks over my husband's though!

My LO is 1/2 Asian and white and she takes after her Dad...I thought my Asian genes would dominate but she has all of his features including his dark blue eyes

Our LO is half Asian but she takes after DH and looks white. She doesn't look Asian at all, even since birth. She's DH's mini me.

For some reason, I always had in my mind a little girl with light wavy hair but I couldn't imagine any other features. While I was pregnant, I would look up pictures of mixed babies out of curiosity and even did one of those face morph things before I got pregnant (it didn't turn out too well)! Haha!
When my LO was born, I was in shock (not just taken by the moment) but because she doesn't look like what I pictured. It's odd saying that because I couldn't picture her but I guess I thought she'd look a lot like her daddy because I read somewhere that if a 1st child is a girl, there's a higher chance to look like the dad than the mom. I'm Filipino and hubs is Swedish.

I am Caucasion and DS's biological father is African American. The entire time I was pregnant I pictured having a curly haired mocha baby but nope DS came out looking almost chinese? Now he just looks white. He has darker skin then I do but he does not look mixed. He also has light brown fine hair with no curl at all. He is almost 4 so I think he is going to stay looking like a white boy.

This might not count at all but I'm Korean and my husband is Chinese (what a difference, huh?). Obviously, my daughter looks Asian but many people says she looks Korean. Sometimes I forget she's half-Chinese...I always think she's Korean. LOL.

I picture absolute cuteness. I expect my lo to have Asian dominant features and then my skin tone (I'm super pale), but the specific overall look I can't picture. I'm still holding out that it has my eye color (blue-grey).

@Mrs.B: Isn't it kind of sad that their features get so diluted when they are 1/4 AA? I thought M. would look more AA too. You only really get a hint of it. The rest is all Asian and Native. She doesn't look white, but nobody really knows what she is.

@Mrs. Bee: Yeah, I agree. All of my nieces and nephews all look more Asian when they are born. They look more white as they grow up. They don't look completely white. They definitely look mixed.
@leelee: I'm exactly like you except that I'm not pregnant yet. I also think that my LO will get my brown eyes and black hair because it's dominant. I would love it, if my LO got my DH's blue eyes! -
