Seriously. I looked back at my notes because I am so miserable and realized that in the last 17 days I've gained 15 lbs. Every nurse who's seen me at the MFM, OB, and triage has commented on my swelling but the midwife continues to say that since my BP is normal my swelling is normal. But I can barely breathe, walk, etc because of the swelling, how is that normal?

Oh, I'd be making a phone call explaining your symptoms. Definitely not normal.

Yeah a pound a day and affecting your ability to breath sounds abnormal to me.

Hmmm, I'm not a doctor so I wont even try to guess what is happening, but I would talk to someone about what is happening. It maybe time for an opinion from another midwife. I hope that you find someone to help you.

One word. Acupuncture. Seriously helped me. But sounds extreme so i would see a doctor first.

I had some major swelling and was diagnosed with pre-e at delivery when my BP sky rocketed. It was fine until delivery and then it went wacky.

Did you call your OB? This sounds very similar to me a week and a half ago. I don't think I gained weight that quickly, but my swelling was very uncomfortable. The nurse/midwife were not concerned at my appointment because my blood pressure was excellent. 6 days later I had severe pre-e and was delivering my baby. I don't want to scare you, but I wish I had known how quickly things could change.

@mrs. 64: I've been thinking about you! I remember you responded in my recent post about swelling so it scared me that you ended up delivering right after that. It seems futile to say anything to them because despite all my high-risk issues (at this point baby has IUGR and NSTs aren't great) they keep having me see a midwife who wants things to be as "normal" and low-intervention as possible. Since they won't do anything for me I ended up taking an ishload of antihistamines so I could sit comfortably today.

So my ILs came over tonight and both of them asked me separately why I'm breathing so loud. I guess I am having a lot of trouble breathing.
I'm so frustrated knowing that it's pointless to call the OB because their line is always "if your BP is under 140 you are fine" and yet everyone keeps telling me I'm clearly not fine.

@spaniellove: I know someone who had very similar symptoms to you. Her blood pressure was always fine but she had horrible edema and other issues. The doctors always told her she didn't have pre-e until her last appointment with them. She was sent straight to the hospital to be induced because all of a sudden (after her edema and other issues had gone on for over a month) her blood pressure skyrocketed. Insist on being checked for your peace of mind.

I would get a second opinion.
My midwife had me do a 24-hour urine catch after noticing that my blood pressure had gone up (it was high for me, but still considered normal). It turned out I had protein in my urine at just above the preeclampsia cutoff. I didn't have any other symptoms.
ETA: I had mild swelling, but nothing out of the ordinary.

@spaniellove: I agree about getting a second opinion. Withy first pregnancy my BP was always perfect but as soon as I mentioned swelling she sent me to get a 24 hour urine catch. Results were fine but the fact that she looked right into it was very reassuring.
