    @plantains: I shudder and cry every time I see a trailer for Fruitvale Station- movie depicting Oscar Grant's murder.

    Maybe I am mistaken but did they already look into civil rights violations with this case and decide not to file any charges? I swear I read that somewhere...I'll have to look.

    @Meltini: There is currently a petition on Color of Change and NAACP to bring civil rights charges. There will also be a civil suit, where the burden of proof is much lower.

    @plantains: I couldn't agree more. It makes me feel a little sick when people say we should move on and not talk about it. When in the history of this country has "not talking about it" been successful at achieving any progress?

    @Mrs. Jacks: thanks! I was a little worried that I let my emotions get the best of me.

    @AprilFool: thanks for sharing!

    @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I am trying work up the courage to see that movie, but it is just so hard right now. The trailer makes me cry too.

    @Mrsbells: Exactly. How can anyone move on when this keeps happening and people keep getting away with it? What are we moving on to? I would say this is an escalation of the problem because it has gone from police shooting unarmed black kids to civilians doing it.

    @Mrs. Jacks: The unfortunate thing about the civil suit is that even if they win a wrongful death case they only get money, he doesnt go to prison or anything. and he can just say he doesnt have any money,. I think that is what happened with OJ Simpson. He is another nasty piece of work, I'm glad he ended up in prison eventually

    @Mrsbells: it's definitely not justice, and I'm not even sure it helps, but it feels like something more needs to be done.

    @yoursilverlining: "Talk about it after a case like this - you're inciting violence. Talk about it any other time and you're race baiting. The fact is there are huge racial inequalities in our country, in our justice system, in our media; everywhere. And it isn't going to get any better until people start to talk about it all the time, and do something about it." Yes! Also, that article you posted from Sociological Images is great. Hard to argue against facts.

    @plantains: 100% agreed. This is an escalation. We need to be talking about this until we're blue in the face. Have you guys read any of the comments on basically any article about the verdict? Some horrible stuff being said. Also, I can't stand to watch GZ's brother being interviewed. He said, "I want to know what makes people angry enough to attack someone the way Trayvon Martin did." I just can't believe him.

    @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: That trailer makes me cry. I'm going to try to go see the movie this week, although I know it's going to leave my heart feeling even heavier.

    @mrsjazz: His brother does him more harm that good. He is clearly racist and his tweets are proof of that.They think because their father was a judge that they have this higher calling to do as they please and speak however they want. I dont blame him because the system tolerates it and even applauds it. I do hear and read comments about and basically the general conclusion is that it was trayvons fault, he was essentially found guilty of his own murder
