I have my 24 week appt in a few weeks at 4:45pm. I called the office yesterday to confirm i would be getting my gestational diabetes test, and they said i was. I asked about fasting and they said i didn't need to.
Has anyone had their GD test so late in the day? Does it even make a difference?

I had mine at three with this pregnancy. I just ate normally. No fasting.

From what I know, it's not supposed to make a difference b/c they're measuring how well your body is digesting the glucose drink.
However, I feel like you can always make sure you eat a protein rich, low carb/sugar lunch and drink lots of water just in case so you don't have to wonder if what you ate had effect!

Makes no difference in my experience. I had mine first thing in the morning (had been fasting by default since it was so early and hadn't had breakfast yet) and I failed. I passed the 3 hour with flying colors and didn't make any adjustments to my diet leading up to it (except for following the GD test instructions). Good luck!

My 1-hour glucose screen was in the afternoon, no fasting beforehand. I failed the fingerstick. My 3-hour glucose tolerance test was in the morning after fasting and I passed fine. Actually I was hypoglycemic (low blood sugar levels). Who knows!

The 1-hour screen doesn't require fasting. I had mine at 2:30PM and had eaten sausage quiche for breakfast and lunch. I failed, but barely, and the 3-hour test levels came back totally fine. Good luck!

I had one in the morning and one in the afternoon with no difference in directions or results.

I've had friends blame their failing the 1 hour on the time of day, but I don't have experience with that. I think it just depends on what your doctor qualifies as failing. I know my doctor has me fast, so I do it first thing in the morning.

I'm literally waiting for my blood draw right now. I ate a healthy lunch just to cover my bases.
