Did it hurt when you got it? Did you spot afterwards? Should I take some Tylenol beforehand?

my dr suggested taking 2 aleve when i was leaving the house so it would kick in by the time i got there. i've heard some people say it didn't hurt for them, and for other ppl, like me and my BFF, it was extremely painful. i've heard that it is less painful during your period because your cervix is more open then anyway. good luck! even if it sucks, remember that it's pretty quick and that you'll have a looooong time before you have to worry about bc again.

I think I took pain reliever before but I didn't think it was that bad. It felt like really strong menstrual cramps while it was going in. I had some cramping for a day or two and I've had random spotting since but nothing bad. I got it put in around 7 weeks ago. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and for me, it literally took a minute to insert it.

I took 800 mgs of ibuprofen an hour before, and it was no big deal! I did have some cramping later that night and spotting for a few weeks, but overall it wasn't that bad.

Mine was hideously painful. I had it before having a baby, though, and I think that's a very different experience.

I took an Advil before, and I definitely spotted afterwards, so bring a pad (they won't want you using a tampon right away). It was painful, but it was over pretty quickly, and my doctor did a great job overall.
