I just recently got my drivers licence a few weeks ago (yeah I got my licence at nearly 27... hey I come from a place with great public transit!) and today I get my first ever car that is actually mine and not one I share with my DH!
It's a 2006 Ford Escape! So excited to drive it for the first time today!

My first car was a 1988 Chevy Corsica. It was my Mom's, then my brother's, then mine when I got my license in 1994. I named it Gonzo.
ETA: First car I ever bought myself was a 2001 blue Jeep Cherokee. I loved that car so much.

My first car that I drove (owned by my parents) was a 1995 Jeep Cherokee sport, in red. I looooooved it and drove it into the ground.
First car that's actually in MY name? We just got it a few months ago - a gray 2012 Honda Accord. LOVE!

My first was my mom's hand me down 1998 Volvo station wagon. I LOVED that car. His name was Stanley. I was so so sad when my parents took him back to sell (to get my mom a Mercedes...puh-leeeze)
ETA: The first car I bought for myself is my 2009 Jetta!

I've never owned a car I didn't have to share, but our current car (2011 Nissan Versa) is in my name. But my first car that I drove regularly was a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport. His name was Beastie and we drove him until we got hit by a semi and it cracked the frame. I miss him so much.

I got the hand-me-down from my sister when she went to college. It was a 1991 Red 2 door Chevy Cavalier. It was a hunk of junk

My car was a 1986 Mercury Lynx 4 door hatchback. (think Ford Escort). It was my Great Grandma's with low miles, I drove it until it cracked the head gasket and ruined the engine.

It was a 2000 Volkswagen cabrio with a white convertible top. I thought I was so cool when I would leave high school with my top down (but it was always freezing during the school year so my heat was on full blast and my seat warmers were turned on high).

I have never owned a car in my adult life. My husband and I just bought a car together this year, but I've never owned one alone, just didn't see the need with public transportation and living in places like NYC.

My aunt gifted me her car when I turned 16 so that she could get a new one. It was a 90's something cadillac el dorado. It was super long and heavy, but had leather interior. The radio didn't work though. At 16, I was just happy I got a car!

@looch: Yeah when I lived in Montreal I just never saw the point of getting a car when public transit was so convenient and affordable.
Now that I live in a suburb of Toronto where the public transit blows, I really needed to get a licence. DH and I waste so much time only having one car between the two of us.

@looch: I'm still probably not going to drive that much (My DH and I work at the same place so we drive there together and that's probably most of the driving we do on weekdays), but it will be great for splitting up errands on the weekends.

@pui: Haha, my husband and I too! On most days we commute together, but I agree on weekends, we could split chores and be done in half the time. I really feel like our best solution is a second car we shared with another family.

2004 red Pontiac Sunfire! Got it in '07 right after I got my license. Now I have a '10 Dodge Charger that's dark red. I traded my Sunfire in for it last year.
