I am thinking of getting my LO an activity cube and a PBK Anywhere chair for her first birthday (it's just a few weeks away!). What did you get (or what are you planning to get) your LO for their first birthday?

I wanted to get her something she can treasure forever, maybe super nice earrings? But them I realized I don't want to pierce her ears or have her wear baby jewelry so I think we are getting her a fancy play kitchen (:
Also, what is an activity cube?! (:
ETA: just googled it...amazing!!! I want one (:

We got him a pool for our deck (DH put his water table in the center of it!) which E LOVES, and also a band in a box kit (because he loves music/banging on/with things).

Have you seen these stools? My SIL just got one for her son's first birthday and it's so cute and sturdy!

@hellocupcake: i didn't know what an activity cube was either and had to google it. it DOES look amazing! haha!
my LO is 7.5 months so we're not there yet but I'm subscribing for ideas!

I'm in the same boat!PBK chair!!! Good idea! I got my DS the zany zoo activity cube and he likes it...but doesn't love it. Thinking maybe the ikea kitchen or workbench?!

We got our LO a Schwinn trike. It's great because we've been using it since his first birthday (he's almost 3), and it converts as he gets older so I foresee him using it for at least the next couple of years!

She got a Joovy trike from my brother and a kitchen from my parents. That was more than enough.

@hellocupcake: @matador84: If we had the space I totally would have gone for a play kitchen! (Alas, not in our current apartment!)

I was thinking of an anywhere chair for LO's 1st bday or Christmas (3 days apart). I think your ideas are great!

Do you think she would prefer the activity cube or a play kitchen? I have been looking at the KidKraft Corner Kitchen . . .

We got her a vintage radio flyer trike and my husband refurbished it and made it look beautiful! !
We also got her a book about trucks, a life jacket (lame, but she needed one), and threw her a big and spendy party.

Maybe the kitchen is a little much for her right now . . . maybe for her 2nd birthday?
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@MsLipGloss: I'm not sure what she'd prefer but I bet you'd get longer use out of the kitchen!

@MsLipGloss: B has an activity cube and all he does is shake it.. or try and climb on top of it

@littlek: That's too cute! I was looking at the corner kitchen because (don't laugh!) it has *counter* space.

We got LO a Radio Flyer push car and an activity cube. He loves both.

@MsLipGloss: Well, I think it all depends on what type of meals that R is going to be making and whether she will need the additional counterspace. B is more of a cook up some bacon or eggs guy, so he was cool with no counterspace.

Crazy, we are planning on both of those things, an activity cube from Target & the PBK chair! And we are planning on getting her a kitchen for Christmas.

@lipgloss: that play kitchen is adorable! i vote kitchen! i've always wanted a kitchen growing up but never had one. i am definitely getting one for DD when she's older.
@hellocupcake: @petunia354: hello birthday month twins! my LO is turning one 5 days before christmas. i have a feeling we're all gonna be go broke in december! lol.

I got her the anywhere chair and will get her a kitchen for Christmas. I considered activity cube, but have a feeling she won't really play with it.
She is obsessed with her chair so I feel like I got pretty good bang for my buck!

I've been eyeing a kitchen for my LO's first birthday too but I don't think she'll be ready for it until she's a little older. That Corner kitchen is really cute!

@dolphin: Omg seriously. I need to start buying gifts now to spread out the expense!

Do the activity cube for birthday. Then do the kitchen for Christmas.

@petunia354: @dolphin: Our LO is 6 days before Christmas....we already scheduled her birthday party for the 14th. I've been thinking of buying the play kitchen we want now in anticipation of how broke we will be (: I haven't even began to think of what to get her for Chris's but this activity cube is creeping it's way to the top of the list (:

At 1 my daughter loved her anywhere chair and she most definitely would have loved a zany zoo and kitchen too!
I think the recommended age for kitchens is 2 or 3 so baby R might be a little short for the kitchen. I'm sure she'll love it regardless though!
I would do the chair and zany zoo (activity block thing) for her birthday and wait on the kitchen!
Can't believe she's almost 1!!!!!

Thanks so much for all your help lovelies! I am gonna go with the activity cube and anywhere chair for her birthday, and the corner kitchen for Christmas or another big event . . . *I* don't think I can wait until she's two!

@MsLipGloss: I like your plan!
We are getting M an anywhere chair for her bday and then a radio flyer for Christmas a month later.

I bought her a puzzle and swing seat. She received a push car, doll stroller, toy piano, toy laptop from her grandparents and uncles.

@MsLipGloss: woohoo! lucky girl!
I'm saving the kitchen for when we move into our new house. Next spring!
I'm gonna do a Zany Zoo and anywhere chair for J's 1st too. I'm actually hoping the grandparents will buy them for him

Had to google th activity cube too! Wow! How long do they enjoy those? Space-wise is an issue for me. I think the play kitchen will get much more playtime IMO.
Love the chair idea too! I'm hoping to get a chair for K for Xmas, and we received a hand me down play kitchen. For her first birthday I might want to get her a mini table and chairs to play tea parties and draw, read, etc.

@littlek: ooh we have the joovy! DD loved sitting it in before she could actually pedal.
