Does anyone else on here work the graveyard shift? After 5 years of working this shift I feel like I could never switch back. Does anyone have experience with a baby and working the graveyard shift? I am hoping that if I go to part time graves and my husband continues working the day shift we wont need daycare.

I work from 7p-7a, part-time. DD 2 goes to daycare the next day though so I can sleep. It is on days when one of the girls is sick I am home so no one has to miss work. Baby 3 will stay home with me for the first 6 months or so, so we don't have to pay for daycare.

@mrsmenow: Oh that makes sense to need to sleep after. Do you work all your shifts in a row? Like I wonder if I could get away with no daycare if I work Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7-7?

@anonysquire: I try to space them out. I think you could, that is what we will do with the baby since it will sleep more during the day. I know a lot of people that go without daycare, but for my sanity we still send her-and she had gone 3 days a week when I worked day shift so I think she would have missed it.

Never worked the graveyard shift but I think it is great practice for the newborn phase when their days and nights are mixed up. I hate the night time and darkness and being up with an inconsolable baby at that time is really scary for me. I wish I had some experience being up at night time like you have.
