The height / weight board had me thinking... (and the questions / answers about the 95% child)

Did you baby follow the same growth curve from birth?

Background:

My son was born </= 25% (he was 6 lbs 13 ozs) for weight and (I think) height, but is now either off the charts for height and weight or at the very top (we see the pediatrician next week). At our first pediatrician appointment after he was born the doctor actually had him re-weighed as she was so surprised he had not only gained back the weight he had lost, but also gained some! She also had him re-measured at the 1 month appointment because she had never seen a baby grow so much in height -- she said they must have done his measurements poorly at the hospital.

As an aside, I had major bleeding issues in my pregnancy and had suspected placental abruption. I can't help but feel like maybe the placental problems are why he was so small at birth and is now so big. The pediatrician also alluded to this (she knows my story as we thought he was going to come early when I was on hospital bed rest). I'm just wondering if other people have experienced this - small at birth and then grew like gang busters - or if it really may be the placenta stuff.
