The other day, I took LO to my mom's house. I haven't spent a lot of quality time with her and the last time she saw my now 7 month old was probably around 2-3 months old. (we have a strained relationship but still trying to make it work)
So I went over to her house and my aunt (her sister) was there also. I introduced the baby to my aunt and everything was going well...my mom and aunt were playing with baby and we all had smiles on our face. Then my mom points to my tote bag and asks my aunt how much she thinks it looks like it costs.
(I admit, my bag was actually very expensive but was a gift from DH as a push present. It has a pattern on it but is from somewhat of an obscure brand so not many ppl know the price of it...which, honestly, is great bc it was something that was for me, not for anybody else)
Anyway, my aunt laughingly said something like "it looks like it was $30 and my mom proceeded to tell her how much it was with a huge cackle. My aunt was incredulous and they both got a good laugh out of it.
This is the type of thing my mom does that really gets under my skin. She is crass but doesn't know it. Maybe its a cultural thing (i'm korean)
In any case...i didn't respond and just kind of focused on LO and let it go. But it annoyed the heck out of me.
Would you have taken offense?
