My daughter threw the most epic tantrum this morning. It lasted for over 45 minutes and she was just SCREAMING. Nothing we did could calm her at all. She refused to get dressed, ripped off every shirt we put on, slammed multiple doors in our faces. Tears streaming the whole time. It was horrendous. I've never seen anything like it!!! I was dumbfounded and shocked. I felt bad for her and us. I was trying to feed my 6 month old and could never get a letdown because I was so stressed out. Terrible!

We've definitely experienced that... usually it's connected to illness or a lack of sleep, but sometimes there's no reason we can point to! Just exhausting...

Can totally relate: this week, my daughter had some dental work and then a vaccine shot the next day, and then absolutely refused to go to preschool the day after that! She had a total meltdown, so we had to let Uncle Steve Jobs do some babysitting while we tried to get some work done.

I was late earlier this week because E was like this! I ended up putting her shoes in the front seat of the car and football carrying her out to the car and strapping her in. And then OF COURSE she was happy as a clam as soon as we got to T's house. I about stroked out.

Yes! Often. Luckily my job is flexible on start times. I have taken to bribing her with Sesame Street or Caillou if she behaves but that is hit or miss.
And after a tantrum she wants to be held so I've gotten very used to carrying a 3 year old to the bus stop in heels.

@yellowbird: the only reason I haven't been made late to work because of a tantrum is because I'm not working. We've had some bad ones like that. (But they aren't the norm!) We just had #2 and I'm not looking forward to bad tantrums while having the second to look after!

Strep throat is awful!!! I used to get it so often when I was a kid and it made me miserable. DD2 (18 months) got it about a month ago and she was pretty hard to calm, but I can't blame her because she felt so bad. She was a totally different child about 12 hours after the 1st dose.

So many times! Luckily my job has a flexible start time, unless I've got a meeting with someone.
Strep is pretty painful... I'm sure that's a major factor. I hope she feels better soon.

Yup! We leave pretty early and while he normally sleeps through the morning routine, once in awhile, he'll wake up and not be a happy camper because he's not ready to wake up yet.

My 3 year-old daughter has always had, and still has, crying/tantrum episodes every single day. it’s humiliating. Bedtime is so stressful EVERY DAY! And this is not the only time she is out of control. I have tried it all; routine, stories, positive reinforcement, games, etc, etc., still, nothing works. We can't figure it out...we would appreciate your input...I'm all ears!!! Thanks!!
