I've thought a lot about it because it is something I would love to do. I feel like I'm able to have a baby, and I know it's the worst feeling ever thinking/knowing that you can't because I went through that feeling after I miscarried.

But pregnancy and I don't go well together. I get severe migraines, and they get even more severe when I'm pregnant. I have to take meds, I went to the ER at least 3 times just in my first trimester to get stronger meds...... I just wouldn't feel right putting all of those meds in me while carrying someone else's baby.

Plus I have my own LO now that I have to worry about and take care of. When I have a migraine someone else has to watch her, which not only makes me upset that I don't get my time with LO, but it's inconvenient for my family who has to stop their lives to help me. During my first pregnancy I was on the couch every day until half way through the second trimester, so I'm expecting that again. It just wouldn't be fair to my LO or my family.

If my body was different and could handle pregnancy better, I would love to do it.

I think it's absolutely beautiful and selfless that you are even considering it for your friend, that is really special.

Did you have an easy pregnancy with C? I think that would play a large roll in your decision if not. Another thing to think about, could you grow a baby for 9 months and then have no issue not being it's mama? Naturally you wouldn't do the same things, like picking out names, shopping, etc. but I think that emotionally that would be the hardest consideration.

I don't have any information or advice to share, but I can't tell you how nice that is.

I would do it for my sister, SIL or cousins. I don't have any friends i'm that close with.

@zippylef: Would the surrogacy that you are considering be using your own eggs or having your friend implant hers? I am not sure how that works with her lack of uterus! My guess is that she no longer produces eggs? In that case, I would be much more hesitant to do it because I would see it as giving up my own child versus carrying someone else's.

And how does your DH feel about it? I had this convo with my DH last year (when a WB thread was started on the topic) and found out that he felt very strongly against me carrying "another man's" child! Although I don't see it that way at all, it was another reason I probably would never end up actually doing it.
