I think our parents will be supportive but I don't think many our siblings and close friends will be as enthused!

Everyone of our parents generation loves that we are team green and everyone of our generation hates it!

No one tried to talk us out of it, in fact, a lot of people thought it was so awesome that we waited to find out at the birth.

@MamaMoose: Ah wow, what an interesting generational split!

@MamaMoose: I think the opposite would happen for me. Our parents kept bugging us and our friends were cautious to ask us just in case we were not finding out. I'm glad we found out, though. My mom kept calling the baby a boy and it was driving me nuts. I was kinda glad to have another girl just so that she would be wrong! Well, that and I wanted another girl anyway.

@MamaMoose: This is pretty much what we encountered as well. Older generations were happy to see us not find out but our friends (selfishly) wanted to know.

people tried to talk us into it! I just couldn't wait, though. haha.

Everyone's been very positive about team green. Virtually all the moms who found out early say "I wasn't patient enough/I wish I was patient enough." It does highlight the weird obsession some people have about getting a boy or a girl, though!

@Minnie_Girl: I definitely will admit to the fact that I wasn't patient, but I wouldn't say I had an obsession - I also usually can't wait until someone's actual birthday or Christmas day to give gifts I just like to do things sooner, lol!

@sorrycharlie: There are some days when I am VERY impatient and just want to "open the gift" early! We haven't had any ultrasounds done, so there's been zero gratification in that department.
Some people just can't believe that we don't have a preference! So many guys say to DH, "But you *really* want a boy, right? Right?!" As if it's the 1800s and the family money will go to a distant cousin if he doesn't produce an heir, lol.

@Minnie_Girl: I hear ya. A stranger with a newborn followed me around the baby clothes in Target ARGUING with me (before we knew what we were having!). It was so awkward and bizarre. She's like, "I know you want one or the other!" And I kept insisting that I didn't have a preference, their are pros and cons to both! She kept telling me that I was lying, that she knew I wanted one over the other. DH abandoned me and took off to electronics and I could. not. shake. her. people are SO WEIRD!
I LOL'd at the 1800s and family money, HAHA!

Half of our friends didn't find out either and the other half found it annoying that we didn't know. I loved not knowing! Of course our OBGYN forgot we didn't know, and didn't announce it right away!

Just my boss because she wants to buy all kinds of gifts. Everyone else loves that we're Team Green. Before my anatomy scan, the grandparents kept hinting that we shouldn't change our minds and find out.

I had one lady tell me that I was ruining God's present to me by finding out.. really?! She said she couldn't stand it when "kids" found out the gender these days. "It's like opening a Christmas gift before Christmas. It ruins all the fun and you just don't do it!" She went on this whole long speil about how stupid it was that I found out.
Thankfully she was a friend of my sister's so I never saw her again.

My husband talked me out of being team green! It didn't matter to me either way, but after we found out, I'm glad that we did. I'm not sure I'd be able to wait!

like @2PeasinaPod, my husband talked me out of it! ever since i was a little girl i wanted to wait and find out in the delivery room, but he's not quite as patient. i don't feel right keeping him from knowing since it's his baby too, but i couldn't stand the thought of him knowing and not me, so we're finding out.

We found out, but BIL/SIL are team green. I think the hard part is that clothing is really gender specific for the most part, so you really have to look for gender neutral pieces. I think it's partly selfish when people want to know what you are having, especially the pushy ones, but it's also out of excitement and because it's easier to buy gifts when you know if it will be a boy or girl.
I didn't have a strong preference to wait to find out or not. I'm pretty impatient, so when the u/s tech got a good view, we decided to find out. I think since we found out with the first, we'll probably do the same with the next one, but that is a way off.

Pretty much everyone tried to talk us into finding out...and the reason was always that they didn't want to buy something green or yellow (because those are the only gender-neutral colors? Looking at you orange, red, brown, grey...). My MIL and her mother both thought it was great that we weren't finding out, and one of our friends was all for it (she was TG with both her kids).

My mom especially really wanted to find out. she attended ultrasounds with both kids and tried to bribe the tech both times to tell her the sex! Ugh.
We got a lot of comments both ways, but we were pretty set on our choice, so their opinions didn't really matter.
