I've only had 1 (that I can remember) so far....an elderly Chinese lady who didn't speak English fondled my stomach at Ikea. It happened a lot more with my first pregnancy!

You know, I never had it happen. I fully expected it to and was ready to tell the person off. Maybe because I moved to the UK at 8 weeks pregnant? People tend to respect others' privacy and personal space more here.

Yes. I hate it. Its the worst at Zumba...I always get a drink between songs and there is always at least one woman trying to cop a feel,, and at least two others asking "Are you sure you should be doing this?" I'm too nice to do anything about it usually.
I LOVED when it happened when my DH was with me though. He is a police officer, so he whipped out his badge and goes "Are you aware that unwanted touching and fondling qualifies as assault in the state of Tenessee?" (where we live). I about died laughing.

No...I've been really expecting it though, cause of the culture in this area. It's kind of a small town with plenty of old fashioned people. Only my MIL likes to rub my belly, and now she's gotten better about it.

@katiew92081: That's so annoying! I got my MIL to stop rubbing my belly because she did this annoying 'pat pat pat' motion that actually hurt and I told her so. But now she always whines about how she wants to rub my belly and how I won't let her so maybe I should just cave.

I only had one stranger touch me uninvited, when I was around 34 weeks. DH and I were driving back from NC (to PA) caravanning with MIL and FIL and we stopped to pick up lunch from a BBQ place. The place was PACKED, so we got our food to go, and on our way out the door an employee grabbed my arm, made me stop, slapped her hand on my stomach, and told me I was having a little girl. Mind you, this place was packed, she was an employee and her hands are all up on my personal space.
I made it to 34 weeks before someone who wasn't a friend or family member touched my stomach, and I was so surprised by it that I didn't react...but my mildly over-protective husband snapped at her to "get (her) hands off of (his) wife" and pushed her hand off of me before pulling me out the door. He was fuming about it in the car, too. He was way angrier than I was...I was still very much "what just happened?"

@grizz: Yeah, I was having a particularly uncomfortable day a couple months ago, and when she rubbed my belly, it felt like she was pushing it farther into all my organs, so I asked her (nicely) not to that day, cause I was already feeling rough. Since then she hasn't done it. She hasn't said anything about it, so maybe she got the hint. I really wasn't planning on telling her to stop, since it's her first grandbaby and we don't see her so much, so I was just gonna grin and bear it.
I'm glad she's stopped, though, cause now every day is particularly uncomfortable and I don't need anything extra to make it worse!

@futuremrsmck: What?? That's so weird! I would have been too stunned to say something, also! Glad your dh knew what to do!

@katiew92081: Seriously! It was even weirder to me because she was a cashier, and actually left her register and came around the counter to do it! And it wasn't like we were the only people there, there was a HUGE line of customers that she just walked away from!

Some lady at a birthday party did it to me! SO WEIRD. I backed away really awkwardly. I was so shocked, I just kind of creeped away! Nobody's done it since...in fact, even my MIL now asks if it's ok to rub on me. She asked at my shower and I said no because I didn't want everyone thinking it was ok. I don't mind when close friends do it, though! Nobody's been particularly gratuitous and rubby rubby about it, though. But strangers? HELL NO. Weird.

@grizz: That is too funny! Go DH!
Not yet. One of my husbands friend is a bit of a character and he has already, even though there's barely a bump. However, he was sending "positive Indian vibes" (his words! lol) to the baby! Which I thought was totally cute so I let it happen.

@blackbird: I agree! I have a couple of friends that will ask if they can feel him if he's kicking, and I don't mind at all. They get the biggest smiles on their faces when they can feel him I also have a coworker who is an L&D nurse and is studying to be a midwife, so I actually love when she does it because she can tell me what position he's in...She also always asks first too.
Next time a stranger does it I really want to yell "Stranger danger!" and see what happens

@grizz: I would really like to put my hand on their belly and see how they react.

Not yet. But am in the UK. Lots of people that I semi-know do it and most our friends do. I don't mind it at all. Feels like they are saying hello to baby

lol oh man with my first pregnancy people did often touch, but for some reason it didn't bother me --- BUT THEN.... once a STRANGER came up to me super sudden (not even saying hi or eye contact), grabbed my belly, and KISSED it! i think i gasped really loud, and my friend beside me was mortified for me. LOL
it was so surprising i could only laugh and get the heck outta there...
