My friend is having a baby shower this weekend, but I wasn't asked to host it (3 other friends are hosting it). I was surprised to realize that I was a little sad that I wasn't asked.
Have you hosted a baby shower for someone? How did it go?

Weird that a man would host a baby shower! Using the wrong user account? Haha
I haven't hosted ever. It'd be fun to though!

@mrbee: i've never known a man that's hosted a baby shower! although i bet my bridesman from my wedding would throw a kick ass baby shower, so i bet a man hosted baby shower could be excellent.
i've hosted a shower for my bff. she had twins, so i did a two peas in a pod theme, it was fun! she was in the hospital in preterm labor for the shower date, so i had to call everyone & reschedule & have it at a different location at a later date, but it was still great, she loved it & i had fun doing it =)

@chopsuey119: One of the three hosts is a guy... a friend of the father-to-bee.

I hosted a baby shower for my BFF, I think it went swimmingly. We had it at my mom's house, her DH cooked and the ladies really enjoyed themselves.

Yep! Too many times. Whenever someone in our group of friends is pregnant, we all throw her a shower together. Some have been small, some bigger but they have gone great. I love planning showers!

Nope, but I've been to few baby showers.
Never thought I'd see/hear the day a guy wants to help host one though! Go Mr. Bee for stepping it up!

@Alivoo01: I was just sad I wasn't asked. I don't actually want to do the work involved haha!

I have hosted one (the only one I've ever been to even) and it was a lot of fun to do! The only bad part was that I had been traveling in China for work and got back late Saturday and the shower was Sunday afternoon! I had to do everything ahead of time. There wasn't a theme, just pink. I love doing crafts so I made a bunch of stuff myself. We had a good turnout and k think everyone enjoyed it!

Usually I have found that hosting is more of a "volunteer" thing. I have hosted a few, all volunteering. I was actually surprised when for BFF, neither of her sisters offered to help. After the fact, my sister said they probably didn't know and I didn't ask them for any help (which I surely could have used!)

@mrbee: haha! The fact that you even showed somewhat of an interest in it is already major brownie points in my book!

Yup! Quite a few and I LOVE it. I love events and planning and making people happy.
That is awesome that it's a gender neutral shower. I think that's a regional thing. I have seen/heard its more common in NY. I don't think anyone would do that here...
Although for one of my friends' showers, all of our husbands dropped us off and then went out for beer and wings haha

@mrbee: LOL!! Totally stereotyping here, but usually when you ask a guy to help plan a baby shower, it's usually answered with disapproving mumbles and grumbles and lots of whining. So the fact that you're like hey!!! What about me??? results in an aw! response from me. haha!

@Alivoo01: well it's at a bowling alley. My kind of shower!

I've co-hosted 2 baby showers. One was co-Ed and the other was an all girl affair. We had some of the typical games and had an all round good time

I hosted one and loved it because the group of gals was a small and select group. I wouldn't have offered to host if I knew it was going to be a large crowd. Large crowds of strangers make me anxious!

I hosted a shower for my SIL. I wasn't asked to host..... I just kind of took it on! Ever since she married my brother she, my sister, and I have hosted each others events (showers and bachelorette parties) so it's kind of a given and we don't even ask each other anymore.
It was pretty awesome My mom helped financially so we were able to have it at a minor league baseball stadium (where I had my shower) because it was coed. I did a lot of DIY and put froggy things everywhere, she loves frogs and she was team green so it fit well, and I wanted it to look like a baby shower and not a baseball stadium. It was pretty easy peasy because they do all the food there for you.
