I've been getting a lot of headaches during this pregnancy, which I don't remember getting with A. Does anyone know how to ease them? What causes them? Did they let up at all throughout pregnancy?

God yes. I had non-stop migraines. Taking a Tylenol and drinking a little caffeine works wonders. Sometimes just the caffeine works too.

Caffeine! I got headaches all.the.time in the first and second tri's. They tapered off towards the end of the 2nd, and now I get them rarely in the 3rd. So, it does get better!

I used peppermint oil (a dab on temples, behind ears, & base of neck if it was radiating) & some caffeine if it was heading toward migraine-ville.

No advice, just commiserating. They're awful. Coke and Tylenol seem to help some, as does a nap, when I can get one in. Hope you feel better soon!

Coke, Tylenol & a quiet/ dark room for 20 min if you can. I also have been going to the chiropractor. My neck has always been out of wack which causes my headaches.

@Bao: I'm sorry I actually was going to make a thread for the same thing because I have had so many this time and none last time. I drink some caffeine and take Tylenol... sometimes it helps, sometimes it does nothing.

Thanks guys! I will try a bit if caffeine. I was taking a tylenol here and there but wasn't sure how much was ok. I try and rest when A naps but that's not always an option.

@Bao: I took Tylenol when I was pregnant with P but decided to stop after looking into it. I wasn't comfortable with it being a class C pregnancy drug even though its on the "safe" list.

Since Tylenol has never worked for my headaches, my dr recommended Fioricet which is the only thing that's helped. Hope you're able to find something that works for you!

I felt horrible taking Tylenol for my headaches (early onset mommy guilt) but it and a little caffeine helped some. I had the worst headaches if my life I the first trimester. What finally helped me was acupuncture- it seriously changed my life. I went from several very bad headaches a week to 2 or 3 mild ones for the entire second half I'd my pregnancy! It took about six sessions to work but its amazing.

@Bao: Too much tylenol can be an issue- the baby can get addicted. This is what my doctor told me during my last pregnancy.... with no advice on what to do instead.
My migraines are pretty crazy, so bad that I'm on prescriptions for them. I'm on prednisone and I have some narcotics for when they get bad. Non prescription/med things that I do are massages, peppermint oil, heating pad, and just laying down. Also obviously I try to avoid triggers, but that's not always so easy.

@artbee: Tylenol is class C due to possibly having negative effects on baby's liver if taken too much (not sure what "too much" is).. That's what the literature I've read said anyways.

I'm sorry! I'm also getting headaches although I am a normal headache sufferer, so I can usually power through them. Caffiene helps me! I didn't stop drinking coffee (just cut down a lot, a cup a day) but I'm positive this helps my headaches from getting any worse!

Apparently headaches are a common symptom at the end of the first trimester/beginning of the second trimester. At my last OB appointment, my doctor told me this will kick in about the same time morning sickness eases. I don't remember headaches with my first, but I've had a few with LO#2.

I can't go a day without a headache. It's awful. I try not to take Tylenol if I can help it but most of the time I just have to give in. I rest a lot. I haven't thought of drinking caffiene!!

Lots of water and some caffeine or Tylenol. Pressure changes lately probably don't help.

I mostly sleep when possible/rest in quiet darkness, drink a lot of water, rub some icyhot on my neck, and sometimes having a bit of a salty snack helps, for whatever reason. Sorry you're dealing with these, they're awful!

I just drank a few ounces of coke and my headache is magically gone!

I didn't get many, but when I did, I popped some Tylenol.
