The home doppler I ordered arrived this morning and DH came home from work at lunch so we could try it out. It was a little hard to find the heartbeat at first and took about 5mins to get it and was also lower in my abdomen than I thought at this stage. But all of a sudden, there it was beating away at around 140bpm. Amazing!

My coworker lent me hers when she found out I was pregnant. I had to youtube where to go and what it would sound like, but it's such a feeling of relief to hear it whenever you want! :3

Yay! I love mine so so much. Before I could feel him kicking, I would use it every other day to reassure myself. It's great to hear that little heartbeat!

we were high risk and our OB actually suggested that we get one. It was a great tool thru out the pregnancy to be able to listen once a day or when I felt the kicking wasn't as often. Good buy!

ooh exciting! I am tempted to get one - which did you buy in the end?
Doing a bit of Googling suggests that midwife probably won't use the doppler until 20 weeks and I'd like the reassurance between now and the end of April that everything is ok (while I still can't feel movement anyway)... but as I have an anterior placenta I'm a bit scared to get one to try at home in case it's too hard to find a heartbeat and then I'll freak myself out more!

How exciting!
I had one and loved it! It was so nice to check up on him and gave me such peace of mind. I used it a few times a week until I could feel consistent movement.

I love mine! We do it about every other day to calm my nerves. Baby has learned to run from it now though...I'm sure he/she doesn't like it. The best investment ever! It will work great until we can feel our babies move inside.

When can you start using it?

@ladybee: You can usually start hearing it between 10 and 12 weeks. Our OB heard ours at 11w and we bought a home doppler shortly after with no issue hearing it.

@marionberry: haha that's funny! I think our baby is the opposite and comes towards it to see what's going on because we can never hear it at first and then a few minutes later it's so clear!

I'm getting one if we get pregnant again. Waiting between appointments was too much for me.

@ladybee: I'm sure you could convince him. The $60 I paid was so worth it. It keeps me from worrying which DH loves.
