We moved across country when I was 37 weeks, 4 days. After that though we spent time with family and went out to eat when we could.

Lots of cleaning and organizing the nursery and just watching lots of TV series and movies on Netflix!

Omg - this time before the babe arrived was really brutal! I kept trying to enjoy it, but was so anxious/excited/stressed I didn't know what to do!
I was able to work from home the two weeks prior to my due date so that kept me pretty busy. Are you still working? I think that was key for me.
I also stocked supplies for the house, reorganized my kitchen and some other nesting type things. Dh and I went out to eat a few times and we had a couple picnic lunches - it helped because we were both so ready! I was also a day overdue so my due date was an especially tough day.

I did a lot of trying to get the baby out. Eating all the foods that they tell you to eat (spicy, chinese, etc), did a lot of walking. All the old wives tales. None of it worked, but it made me feel like I was trying.

@artbee: haha same! I even tried doing a cardio dance video at 37 weeks pg: epic fail haha!!

Reading, walking, trying to get myself mentally and physically prepared for l&d. I tried to stay as busy as possible, but looking back, I wish I had gotten a little more sleep

@Coco Bee: Yess. We haven't DTD in like 6 weeks b/c I was paranoid about pre-term labor (oh and also huge and feeling unattractive). But once 37 weeks rolls around (tomorrow) I plan on having lots of sex if DH will agree and let us do it with the lights off

I didn't get a chance, my water broke on the night after my last day of work at 37w2d!!!
I would suggest lots of list making and task completing, because as much as people tell you to rest and relax, I know the anxious feelings make you want to get things done. Lots of walks and red raspberry leaf tea too

I left the house! I went to dinner and movies and pedicures and everything fun! Basically I forced myself to get my mind off of my anticipation & excitement:)
And now that I have DS--I'm glad I did that...because with mI weather: it's very hard to go out much without risking baby's health.

@highwire: really? I talked to my mw about it because I first felt contractions in the early third tri from sex; she said that sex won't induce labor unless you were already going to go into labor. So we just kept on going
It does get hard at the end though for sure! DH would always squish my bump which hurt for sure but he learned to be more gentle.

@Coco Bee: My issue was more body image over pre-term labor, but both of them worried me (even if the worry was totally unfounded).

@highwire: oh yeah... I actually felt better pregnant than I did/do not pg!! hahaha... I tried pulling the body image thing with DH and he doesn't care. It's hard to "hide" from him lol

I spent a lot of time bouncing and rolling on a yoga ball while watching Gossip Girl on Netflix. And walking. Or waddling, rather, lol.

I finally just hit that point too, where I am "ready" to get this show on the road and meet Baby! Now that we have our power back and I am not working (campus shut down all week), I have been obsessively cleaning and organizing again.

I was lucky to have my husband at home when I started my maternity leave. He's a school administrator, so he gets summers off. We watched a movie every single day (in the theater) because we knew it would be awhile before we got out again, and we totally do not regret doing this! It's actually one of our fond memories about my mat. leave!
