I got into Charlotte from SATC but DH hates when I tell people that. Her middle name is after my late grandmother.

We got Charlotte from the movie Layer Cake, but I hate telling people that. We just heard it and liked it.
Her middle is after DHs grandma.

Another Charlotte here (If LO is a girl
I have loved the name since I was 10. I used to write my future babies names and Charlotte was always there ! I don't know where I heard it from.
If LO is a boy, it will have my maiden name as its first name!

DH's middle name and his dad's middle name is Evans and it was his grandmother's maiden name. If we hadn't used Evan as a first name we would have given him Evans as a middle. Charles is MIL's maiden name.

Brady after Brady Anderson (DH is a huge Baltimore Orioles fan) and middle name Paul us DH's middle name.

It's just a name that I like that no one I know has, even though it's super common. Her middle name DH picked. I debated a name for months and would extensively research the meaning and did Google searches to double check what's out there. But when we finally narrowed down her name and middle name, all I did was check if it's auspicious (by the number of letters) and when it all worked out, I didn't bother with anything else.

It was a name that we both liked and could agree on. I wish it wasn't so popular but it completely fits my LO.

I remember saying I liked Angelina Jolie's daughter's name, Vivienne, but it just wasn't quite right. Then one day I was cruising nameberry and saw "Viviana" and it clicked. I added it to the final five name list and when she was born we were sure that it was the right name for her.

First name is after my grandmother, middle is after a character in a book.

Lavinia was a character in A Little Princess. I always liked it when I was a kid. Most people think we named her after Lavinia Swire on Downton Abbey...nope, though I'm happy the name is a little more familiar now.

Dhs great grandma. Her middle name is for my great grandma.

Her first name is the name of a distant cousin. I've never met her but heard her name when I was a kid and have always loved it. It is very uncommon. Her middle name is Ann - my mom is Angela, grandmother was Anna and great-grandmothers were both Angelina (which I feel honors my other grandmother as well).

DD's name is the feminine form of my husband's middle (and both of his grandfathers' first names).
Her middle name is just a unique and spunky name we both loved. We heard it in a song.

My DH liked Annabelle and i wanted something a little less popular so we compromised.

I honestly don't remember. Probably saw it on a list of names site or something. I need to come up with something better before he starts asking me how we chose his name.

Our girl name is the name of the daughter of a blog I read and I really liked it, so I suggested it to DH and he liked it-- done. He doesn't even know it's from the blog, but I don't think it matters.
We both separately came up with the middle name (Mae) but I knew I wanted something like Mary since it's my middle name, mom's first name, MIL is a form of Mary, and my grandma is Mary, but her nickname with her friends is May.

It's the only boy name we could both agree on. His middle name is my dad's middle name.

We got DD's 'not in the top 1000' name from a checker at our local grocery store. It's also a well known author's name so I think most people think we chose it for literary reasons. DH hadn't even heard of the author when he suggested it. He just liked it best.
Oddly enough there's a checker at the grocery store with my 'not in the top 1,000' name too.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I love this. Our daughters name is a feminine version of her two grandfathers names. My name is the same.

I made a list of like 25 boy names that I liked, DH narrowed it down to 5. And Elliot just seemed like the one! His middle name is DH's first name.

My husband wanted the name Emily but I said no b/c of it's popularity. We looked up "names like Emily" and I think her name was in one of those lists. We picked her middle because it was short, sweet and there is a certain Dutchess who is pretty classy that has the name.

DH suggested, jokingly, naming him after his favorite ball player -- first name and the ball players last name as LO's middle name. Obviously this wasn't going to happen, but I kept thinking about the first name because it's a common name that isn't common at the moment. There just aren't a lot of kids with this name, but it's not an "out there" name. So we went with it.

When LO was born, she so wasn't any of the names we had on our short list. She just didn't look like any of the names we had worked months on, at all! eek!
It was a beautiful day when LO was born, except during my delivery. It was so weird, but as soon as they started prepping me for my c-section, it started raining and there were 2 types of lightning! Then when I got down to the OR, it started hailing!!! By the time we all got back to our recovery room, the storm had passed and it was sunny again.
So, (after much commenting by family that LO was a powerful weather-shamen haha) we decided we wanted to name LO a name that had some link to storms/sunshine/something and came across Eleanor, which means "ray of sunlight". Coupled with all the strong, smart Eleanor's throughout history; it just fit her little, scrunched up face perfectly

We got the middle name from a verse in the book of the Bible DH is named after. For his first name, we just wanted something strong and solid but not too popular, and surprisingly enough we both ended up with it at the top of our lists after cruising through NameBerry.

My husband and I only recently figured out where our daughters first name came from. When I was 9 weeks pregnant, we went on a trip to Mexico for his cousins wedding. During one of my daily naps we watched Life As We Know It (with Josh Duhamel and Katherine Heigl). In the movie the baby's name is Sophie. We didn't realize until a couple months after our daughter was born that thats probably where the name first stuck in our heads. We were originally going to name her Olivia, but discovered that it was the most popular name in all of Canada, so we switched it.
Her two middle names come from my Aunt and my Mother in Laws middle names.

We wanted it to start with a C as a nod to my maiden name, we were watching Ferris Bueller and liked the name Cameron. We were in Chicago when we were trying to decide, so it just seemed perfect. His middle name is after my husband's great uncle.

DS is named after both of his grandfathers. They absolutely love it and I think it makes them even more smitten with him, if that's even possible.
clementine / 826 posts
@ladyfingers: I first heard DS' name as a baseball player, I loved the whole name and would have used the last name as a middle name, but dated a guy with the last name as a first name. DH vetoed it. If it's the name I am thinking of, good pick!

We were just playing around with sounds we liked, then googled the name and saw it was very popular in Israel but not in the UK.. as we wanted something unusual but Spanish sounding, it ticked our boxes and we grew to love it. By the time she was born it was definitely 'her' name. Her middle name took FOREVER to pick! In the end we chose something that means both 'miracle' (because i got preg naturally against the odds) and 'adored'.
@zippylef: @char54: @highwire: my name is charlotte and I was the only one in my primary school and high school, but I was named after the writer, Charlotte Bronte. It's so nice to see there's more love for the name now!

@belleoftheballe: Probably not the same name because this player's last name would be an odd first/middle name -- but funny!

DD-first name is the name of DH's maternal grandmother, middle is a random name DH picked
DS-first name is biblical, middle name is tradition in DH's family
