I had to tell my boss on the fly, without planning anything. Which was great, in a way, because then I didn't have time to get nervous.

He called me into his office one day to tell me I was doing a great job and asked if I'd be interested in some extra $$ over the summer to come to the school and write grants, work on curriculum, etc. He seemed REALLY excited about it. So I had to be like.....about this summer. Um. I'm going to be delivering a baby. haha

Luckily, he was SUPER NICE about it. phew!

With my first pregnancy, I told my bosses during a meeting where we were discussing upcoming projects. With my second pregnancy, I sent them a link to the video we made of DD "announcing" she was going to be a big sister. I waited until about 14-15 weeks to tell them each time.

Wow, 18 weeks?? I'm impressed!

I am planning on going into her office, shutting the door and just coming out with it one day. I was going to say somehting along the lines of "I wanted to tell you that I"m preganant and due in August. I've already taken inventory of what needs to be taken care of in my absence during maternity leave and I will email you the list". I'll also tell her that my plan is to work right up until my due date, but may need to work from home some days depending on my state at the time.

Haha well in my job we are assigned accounts that have specific dates to them, so I know exactly what my workload will be any given month. I just have to run the list and maybe do a little prework if the account is very big.

Ugh, I am not looking forward to this. I am planning to just set up a meeting with our HR person (he will probably think I am either pregnant or quitting). Then I'll probably just blurt it out at the meeting!

I have a biweekly catch up meeting with my boss, so at the end of the one we had at 13 weeks, she asked if there was anything else and said, well, yes, I'm pregnant. I told her my due date, how far along I am, and that was about it. Afterwards, we talked very briefly about coverage and me putting together a list of what I know will be going on around that time, but mostly she was just excited for me. I'm the 4 person on my team to have a baby in less than 4 years, so we are getting to be pros at it.
I did not mention anything about a time frame for me coming back-- I am pretty sure I won't be but I'm leaving that option open, and I don't think she is actually allowed to ask. When I meet with HR I'm going to ask them about the what ifs, if I decide not to come back, but that I'm planning to.

I told my boss really early, not quite five weeks pregnant. My office is small, there are only three of us, all women. I told her that I had gotten some good news, that my citizenship had finally come through and that in addition to becoming a Canadian I'd also be having a Canadian. As soon as I said so, she claimed that she already knew and had spoken with her husband about how to handle my leave the weekend prior. Since the office is small it was important that she have the extra notice to balance the workload with my mat leave.

My boss and I have one-on-one meetings once a week to catch each other up on what's going and the status of various projects. At the conclusion of the meeting, my boss always ask "anything else?" I said one more thing, I'm pregnant and am due August 12th. He congratulated me and that was that. I plan on setting up a meeting with HR beginning of June to get a complete understanding of my benefits (FMLA, STD, etc.) then compiling all my information (work schedule, work load, etc.) to present to my boss at the following one-on-one meeting. I want him to know I'm prepared and won't let him down just because I'll be out. I've been showing this also with my various doctor appointments and CPE events that even though I'm not at work, I'm still productive and "reachable". Hopefully, this will make my case better/easier when I request to work from home the last month of the pregnancy and the the month following the conclusion of my maternity leave since it's only a month till year end.

I was 15 weeks and I emailed him Monday morning and asked him if he some time that I needed to talk to him. He wrote back that he was at the airport and would be back on Wed, did I need him to call and talk? I wrote back and said no it can wait till he gets back in the office and that I wasn't quitting. He wrote back, ok thanks, I was afraid that was what it was. So when he got back, I just told him, I am not quitting, but I am going to need some time off cause I am pregnant. He has no idea, and was super happy. I was nervous telling him since I got moved to his department a month before and he has no kids. He has been great/supportive about missing time for doctor's appointment.
