How did you tell your SO you were pregnant?

I just thought of a cute idea when and if I get the BFP. My DH is a huge comic book fan. (Yup, we are planning on seeing the midnight showing of Avengers this Thursday night.) I'm thinking about getting a onesie with either the batman symbol or the superman symbol. Then include a note that says, "Will we have a batgirl/supergirl or a batboy/superboy?" I think batboy and batgirl sounds better. I could say superwoman or superman. I don't know if I really like that. I think my DH will love it! It fits him so well!

With my daughter I didn't do anything special, told him I was late on the way to dinner one night; then told him after it was confirmed after getting the BFP. We told his dad by phone since we don't see him very much but told my parents in person during dinner when they came for a visit.

With my current pregnancy, I suspected and tested three times (didn't believe the light lines) before actually telling him and again didn't do anything special just told him about the BFP. For his dad we told him over the phone again but for my parents and other family members, we made a video of our daughter wearing an "I'm the big sister" shirt; she was sitting in my husband's office chair facing away from the camera and when I spun her around DH zoomed in on her shirt.

I had about 30 minutes time between when I unexpectedly got my BFP and until DH came home. I had started a fire in the fireplace so I couldn't run out and buy a bag of diapers or anything. So I just printed out a pic, printed a SOON TO BE WORLDS GREATEST DADDY with EDD on it and left that with the preggo test on his dresser where he goes first thing to change out of work clothes.

(MY DUMB LUCK, DH decides to snuggle by the fire and play with the furbabies for 30 min!! I was laying in bed!... so I finally had to call for him to come up!)

"THIS IS WHY YOU WANTED ME UPSTAIRS, I KNEW IT, I KNEW WE WERE PREGNANT!!!! was his response we laughed and cried together we were so happy.

I didn't do anything creative, just handed him the tests I'd taken over the week!! I didn't tell him for a few days because he had something big going on at work.

My husband wasn't surprised, I was already having symptoms! He still said, "you're pregnant!?!" and gave me a big hug!

I sneakily took a test the day before AF was due even though he made me promise no early testing. I just had a feeling I guess. But I will still so shocked when I saw the BFP and had no idea what to tell him and only about 15 minutes before he'd be home from walking the dog. So when he got home and started making breakfast, I gave him a hug and asked him who he was hugging. And he said my name, my wife, my nicknames, and I kept saying "annd..." so I whipped the positive test out of my pants' waistband and said there's someone else in there. His jaw truly dropped and it took him about 10 seconds (which felt like an eternity) just staring at the test to actually gather himself and say something.

I just giggled at this issue. I can't believe how long I have been pregnant (I had just found out when I wrote it). I was too shocked to do anything witty. I sat on the couch and when he asked me how I was feeling (I had told him I was pukey all day) I just grinned and grinned. Then I told him I had something to show him. Then he freaked out.

I tested really early in the morning. And then I just walked back into the bed room and stuck the pee stick in his face. I believe he then high-fived me. And then we went back to sleep until it was time for work : )

I told him when he walked in the door from work. I was too nervous to come up with anything cute, and I knew my husband wouldn't appreciate it if I waved a pee stick in his face! So I just told him.

I am not PG yet but we are TTC. Hubby owns a small business but does not have any employees yet. I had a onesie made that say "Future Employee" with his company logo below. I cannot wait to give it to him to tell him we're having a baby!!! Hopefully I'll get a BFP soon!

@Alivoo01: Thanks! I think there was another thread like this one. You might search for it if you want additional ideas! Good luck!

I'm really hoping we get our BFP this next cycle (June), which will be right before our first anniversary. If we do, I'm planning on wrapping up the pregnancy test and giving it to him as an anniversary gift after our private vow renewal (just the two of us and our photographer, no guests).

Our 10th month of TTC, so I stopped showing him negatives and just said I would let him know if anything important happened. I was due to test on Mother's Day, but decided not to since I had gotten enough negatives on important days that I decided I couldn't handle it on that day especially. I tested that Tuesday evening since I was a couple days late and got the BFP.

My husband of course chose that time to go shower. I was ready to beat the door down! So I went to "watch" TV, and The Office episode came on when Pam finds out she is pregnant. My husband sits down and starts watching it, and when they announce it, I tell him "On that note..." and showed him the test. For Father's Day last year I bought him the Scranton picnic T-shirt- I smile every time he wears that shirt.

Amazing what can happen in a year- now we have a gorgeous 4 month old, I couldn't imagine that a year ago!
