And keep a positive attitude?
And keep a positive attitude?

Hmmm... That's hard. Depends on the type of disappointment I guess. If it is serious enough, I have been known to cruise the marketplace. Thus far, this has helped me get through rough seasons at work, and eventually I have always concluded that I like where I am at and am thankful for my job, and that some of my disappointments are more short-term. Don't know that I recommend this or that this is completely healthy, but has been how I have dealt with things thus far!
ETA: That doesn't really address the positive attitude part. I know also when I am disappointed at work. I try to generate all my motivation from within, work on special projects that excite me and I will succeed at, etc.

@mrscobee: job hunting and getting called for an interview is always an ego boost, even if you don't want the job or don't get selected for it!

@mediagirl: I agree, and sometimes it helps me put things into perspective. Like I need a reminder that the grass is not always greener. Definitely a temporary ego boost, especially if it is not coming from work at the moment, and even if I am not super serious about leaving. Makes me more confident to know there are other jobs out there too, as I feel like I can get stuck thinking my job is the end all be all.

I try to remember that it is not usually personal when it comes to business decisions. Business decisions are what they are. As far as a positive attitude, I try to think about all the good things and then buy myself a $5 latte

Fantasizing about the day I'll get to give my notice because of some fabulous new opportunity.

@Anya: Haha! In a worst case scenario, that's sometimes I feel like all you can do!

I try to remind myself that it's just temporary and that of it really is bad, there are other options.
