Both times I gave birth I spent two nights in the hospital, and was so happy to be able to go home! I've heard of people being able to leave sooner though, but I didn't have that option. How long did you stay in the hospital after you gave birth?

With my daughter I stayed just 24 hours. I regretted leaving so soon, though, because the second night was really hard and I couldn't get her to latch on to nurse! This time I plan to take advantage of the full 2 night stay.

48 hours with my first which worked out to two nights. With my second we asked to leave ASAP and hospital / state rules were newborn screening had to be done before baby can be discharged. And screening can't be done until 24 hours. So the nurse came to get the baby right before 24 hours and started the paperwork early too. We were out within 26 hours.

Two nights. I couldn't wait to go home. We left about 6 hours after we expected to because the hospital was busy.

Induced on Friday morning. DS was born Saturday morning. Went home Monday afternoon. On said we were ok to go home Sunday but the pedi said DS needed another day under the bilirubin light.

DD - Got there Wednesday night, delivered in the wee hours Thursday morning. I think I stayed 2 more nights after that so was discharged Saturday afternoon.
DS - Got there Thursday at noon, delivered late afternoon. Slept the night and discharged Friday evening. I wanted to leave ASAP and was feeling fine.

About 55 hours after birth. I delivered at 8:55 in the morning but we didn't leave until mid afternoon because of screenings and such.

First time 2 nights. Second I wanted to get out of there asap so after newborn screening was done we were gone (a little over 24 hours).

We were in 2 nights with both. They asked us if we wanted to go home after 24 hours with our 2nd but he wasn't going to be released and obviously I wasn't leaving with out him. Plus, I really liked having the nurses's help!

Delivered around 2 pm and left the next day. We requested an early discharge though. Couldn't wait to leave! Definitely plan on staying for as little as possible with #2.

3.5 days for DD1, she lost 12% of her birth weight so we stayed until she was gaining.
29 hours for DD2 I HATED my nurse and knew my mom would take better care of me at home.

A little over 48hrs. I don't know if I normally could have left earlier, but I was under extra monitoring because of a hemorrhage. I wasn't cleared to leave until then.

4 days for DS and a week for DD- both due to blood incompatibilities, which unfortunately get worse as you have more kids. Hoping for a short stay with this LO!

I can hardly remember but I think we stayed 3 nights. C-section and then DD had jaundice so we had to put her under the lights for 23 hours a day for 2 of those days.

2 nights both times (c-sections). I could've gone home earlier in the day with LO2 (ended up going home around 6pm), but we waited around a long time for the circumcision to be done.

Only one night, got there at 7 am, baby was born at 9 (far quicker labor than expected), left at 5pm the next day. We pushed to leave early, they wanted to keep me another night. Next time, I hope to spend even less time.

@iheartleopardprint: like - and + incompatibility or type?
We left after 48 hours because DD had to go under bili lights for jaundice.

2 nights after he was born. I was in labor over a night too.

Two nights. I could have left after one night but I didn't think it was best for baby in terms of lactation support and my own ability to get around. I'm likely to only stay one night with a second baby though. ETA: 3 nights if you count my night in labor!

2 nights, but she was born at 11pm, so that night counted. I left 42 hours after delivery, but I was there 34 hours beforehand for my induction.

I gave birth Monday early morning by emergency csec. It's three night standard at the hospital for csec so I had to stay until Thursday. LO had jaundice and wasn't allowed to leave so my sweet nurse strong armed the doctor to let me stay for another day so we left Friday night (LO had to stay until Sat). I wanted to stay as long as possible with LO but hopefully with this second one I can go home sooner!

Gave birth at 6:16 pm and stayed 3 nights total. After my c section I was happy to have the help and support of the nursing staff but we were ready to go the last day.

I stayed two nights. They said I could go home after one if I wanted, but they let me stay since LO was in the nicu. Thankfully a room opened up for her that I could sleep in on the second day, so I never had to leave her.

3.5 days as we had to wait for a blood test to come back to see if the bilirubin was dropping.

DD1 - 10 days....she was in the NICU and we were given a family room nearby to stay in
DD2 - we were out 2 days later

@birdofafeather: no, I'm O+ and DS is A+ and DD is A-. It's something to do with my antibodies in their blood, DD was Coombes positive as well.
Both had jaundice as a result of the incompatibility, but as it gets worse with more pregnancies DD was the worst. We were meant to stay in special care for weeks and weeks, but a specialist from another hospital said we could treat at home as it's just a matter of all the anti bodies leaving their system and then everything else, like the jaundice and risk of anemia, will go away.

2 nights (about 48 hours exactly from the time we arrived)
I was with midwives and they send you home quick. But I tore so friggen bad I had to have the catheter in for a while so I couldn't go home. Also I couldn't move soooo probably best I was there that long.

5 days, due to a c section. No complications, it's just standard at my (private, australian) hospital. My friend had a natural birth next door at the public hospital and went home 12 hours later!

About 48 hours exactly! Well, I guess a little more. Arrived in labor at 8am, had baby 1pm. Spent the standard 2 nights, then was discharged about noon after the second night.
I'm glad I had it - I was in a lot of pain from my episiotomy and I basically just stayed in the hospital bed and rested the whole time - not sleep, but just rested with my feet up. As soon as I got home, I was immediately more active and in a lot more pain.

Two nights with DD1, about 36 hours after she was born.
With DD2, we left 4 HOURS later - it was amazing! If there is a third, I will definitely be doing the same!

I stayed for four nights (with my DH in a big bed) through the private system in Australia. It was amazing as had midwives & LCs helping around the clock, as well as overnight nursery if you wanted. Also we had the option of moving to a fancy hotel after 2 nights due to uncomplicated birth, but I stayed as I loved the maternity ward & I didn't want to leave!

Checking at 10:50pm, I gave birth at 2:41am and we were home by 7am. I gave birth with midwives and so all the follow up was done at home. As soon as my epi wore off, I was sent home!
