Hahahaha, my daughter will be 3 on Friday and I still have a couple tank tops in rotation. In my defense, I just like them because they're really long.

In seriousness, probably 8 weeks as a conservative estimate? I think it really depends on how much weight you gain, to be honest. I was the Michelin man, so it took a while.

I think you can wear the tops for a long time (several months) - bottoms will depend on how quickly you lose the weight

I am 3 months pp and have a pair of jeans that I got around 20 weeks PG and I LOVE them...lol

4 mo pp soon and I still wear maternity bottoms... My big thighs can't fit into my old pants And tops are tough too, I don't need maternity tops but the girls got even bigger so I just don't fit some tops period (most of my tops are already very fitted since I am big chested to begin with...)

I agree it's hard to know ahead of time. I lost all the weight pretty much immediately but was left squishy, so my regular clothes didn't look good, but maternity stuff didn't fit either.

i wore my maternity jeans for at least 3 months and then finally admitted it was going to be a while before i fit back into pre-preg jeans so i bought a bigger size that fit.

I didn't wear maternity at all! I just bought pants in a size up, but was wearing my pre baby size by 6 weeks pp.

I packed away my maternity clothes when I went back to work 4 months pp. I could have worn regular clothes earlier but I found the elastic waistband so helpful for running to the bathroom one handed (since I was holding baby).

I vote get a couple maxi dresses. I got a maternity maxi that I really like that I will wear this summer. I think it's easy to find them when they are just full (with lots of fabric) rather than gathered on the sides.

I'm 4 weeks pp and packed up 1/2 of my maternity clothes right away, ones with gatherings on the side were the first gone. But I'm still wearing maternity leggings. I only have 3 lbs to go (I gained 35) but I'm not leaving the house much so I have not bothered trying on pre pregnancy bottoms.

ETA the style I liked is called kimono, the photo was at about 18 weeks. I figure it will be easy to nurse in this summer. Not sure if you are planning on breastfeeding but these tanks fit over my huge belly at the end. 2-3 months. I had LO #1 in the summer it was easier, lots of dresses that could be recycled, etc. This will be a September baby, so I'm not quite so lucky.

Pants for maybe 2 weeks and tops not at all. I wore nursing tops and my normal tops over those.

I mostly wore yoga pants and shorts. When I did go out, I had a pair of maternity shorts that I wore for about 6 weeks (my regular jeans fit a week pp but shorts did not). I did wear a belly bandit with them because there was a lot of muffin top.

I mainly wore sweat pants and old t-shirts for the first 2 months pp. I wore a few maternity tops 3-4 month pp. I was so tired of wearing the maternity clothes, I was ready to bag them up for storage and wear clothes I hadn't worn in months. I did buy 1 new pair of jeans before LO arrived in my pre-pregnancy size and made a point of working out enough to get into them.

I had a couple of maternity bottoms that I never stopped wearing, because they fit fine with no belly too (they pretty much sit on the hips and have stretchy waists). And I mostly wore regular dresses as maternity dresses. I actually had more trouble with some of my favorite tops not fitting any more than with the bottoms... I think my rib cage expanded or something

I had some pieces (tanks, dresses) in my regular rotation for the last few years btw pregnancies.

@FaithFertility: @snowjewelz: same here ladies - 4 months PP and still rocking the maternity jeans i can finally fit into my fat jeans but it is not pretty and I need a longer loose shirt to cover it up.

My first pregnancy I was back into my pre-pregnancy clothes 3 months PP. I didn't even have to try to lose the weight and it just fell off I think bc of BF. I'm having such a hard time losing the weight this pregnancy (obviously I can't BF to lose the weight).

Not long at all-- I opted for leggings and yoga pants, and then just bought jeans a size up until I got back into my old ones.

I fit into my regular clothes 4 weeks pp but I didn't gain a lot and I was already plus sized which I feel like gives you more wiggle room. (That being said, I have on a maternity tank right now at 10mo pp because its long and I like it).
