If pregnancy, fertility, maternal age, SO's opinion, money, work, family help, daycare etc weren't a consideration, how many kids would you want?
I always thought I wanted two and, while it does make sense for us, I think I would want four in an ideal world.

For me it would be a matter of having family around to help! That, in my opinion, makes a real difference. As for my answer, I am not sure! Maybe 4 if I had even any help ever.

Four. But I only have it in me to go through it all one more time, so that would make three, if everything works out.

I always said I wanted four kids. I love big families. But I would have needed to a) marry someone else b) start a lot sooner and c) have a LOT more money. Luckily I'm crazy about DH so his preference for a small family is not a huge sacrifice to me!

3. I used to only want two, but now I want 3. We are probably only having two unless I get pregnant with twins.

I used to really, really want a big family like four or five. Now, I've changed to wanting 3. I think we might stopping at 2 now since there seem to be so many complications with this pregnancy. I'm not sure we'll have it in us to go for #3.

I'd want all the babies. We're still on track for four. Number three will be arriving in January and I don't feel like this is my last pregnancy. If we had a bigger house and if I had easier deliveries I think we'd have six.

2, 3 if I did not have to be pregnant and deliver a baby and we had a lot more money- so never.

3 - it's what I imagine. Pregnant with #3 now so we're almost there. Even if I were younger and richer, I don't think I'd want more.

I used to think 2, but DH and I agreed on 3 only if we doubled up. Now that I'm pregnant with #2 and is the opposite sex from #1, DH seems pretty adamant about being two and through. I'm sort of open to 3 now. Guess we'll see once #2 is here and how things go.

I'm undecided between 2 and 3. We're in the process of starting foster to adopt and we are considering either 1 or 2 kids. I know that overall, 2 is probably a lot easier. Kids don't outnumber you, it's easier with cars and restaurants, etc. But When I think about getting a sibling group of 2 (plus our 1 bio LO) I feel like it would be great to have so many kids and so much love in the house.

5! That may still be a reality some day - we're undecided how many we'll have at this point. We always talk 4-5, so 4 is more likely, but 5 would be my ideal.

I would have loved to have 4, and for such a silly reason - I have one sibling, and all of my cousins/aunts/uncles live far away, so at holidays it's always been a small gathering. Seeing movies with a big family reuniting for the holidays, lots of people around the table, siblings coming home with their spouses and kids, I always wanted that.

I've always wanted three but I don't want to go through the baby stage again after this next one. I don't really want to go through it again this time but I can' bear the thought of E being an only (I was an only and I didn't like it). Two will be our limit.... but if I could hire someone to deal with the baby stage for me, I'd have three!

2 was always my top limit. I don't think I could emotionally handle more (plus I don't want to be outnumbered

4 would be great. I used to be 2 and DH always said 4+. I really don't want to go through pregnancy again (said half-way through #2 
), but would like to adopt in a few years. We will see, but I think we will have at least 3.

@mrsrain: I always thought I wanted 3 but a good friend of ours has three and she said someone always ends up left out. 
Of course, it's different for every family. I grew up in a family with 4 kids and loved it

@blackbird: Oh wait, a girl I know from crossfit just had her 4th! But she is super religious... so I amend my statement to "I don't know a single not-super-religious person..". I do know a girl from high school with 7...
