We live in a suburban development, but usually only get 25 or so trick or treaters. When I was growing up a dirt road, we never got any!
How many trick or treaters will you see tonight?

This is my first time doing Trick or Treat, and it's been a really light crowd, Our doorbell has only rang about 5 times. And candy is expensive so I don't want it to go to waste! I hope some more come by!

We're in the suburbs and I've had about 20 so far.

We've gotten 4. So we're giving out gobs of candy each time

We usually only get about 10 so I only bought 1 bag of candy. But I just had to run and get more cause we ran out!

Zero. We live on a dead end right next to the neighborhoods that are awesome trick or treating areas. There's no reason to come down our road. Bu the house where I lived with my sister was awesome! We would have hundreds of kids. We didn't get done handing out candy until 11:30pm or so.

This was our first year in a neighborhood with trick-or-treaters. So far we've had 50-60, which is still less than I guessed, so we have a ton of left-overs. Oh well, there are worse problems

I am so surprised - it's 7:20pm and we haven't gotten a single one! We just moved to this apartment and I assumed neighbors would bring their kids up/down the hallways instead of out in the cold but I guess not!
persimmon / 1087 posts
We've had kids come in groups trick-or-treating. I would say we've had four groups, and about 30 kids.

Usually we get a ton! Like, people bring vans full of kids to our neighborhood. The last three years my husband has had to run out to get more candy because we've run out. This year we got an extra bag of candy so we had about 400 pieces. And OF COURSE this year we've only had maybe one hundred kids. Looks like I'm going to be taking a lot of leftover candy to the office tomorrow!

I thought we would get a bunch, we live on one of the main streets in our town, but we only got 10-12 so we have a TON of candy left!

Not as many as I expected...10 maybe? We moved to the neighborhood last year and it was really light then too. I wonder if the "kids" around here are just too old for trick or treating? Lots of leftover candy....how sad

We get none in our condo building. There aren't many kids in the building and the ones that are here, they go the big huge homes around us.

0! I buy a bag of candy every year just in case, but DH and I always end up eating it, so I make sure it's one that we like!
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
None this year. We turned our lights off last year too Didn't want people coming and ringing our doorbell with the baby sleeping upstairs.

I am such a nerd--I have a pen and paper by the door and I am actually keeping count! This is our first Halloween in our new house (in the suburbs) so I am just overly excited. So far tonight we've had 42!

We get a ton. We bought two big bags full of chocolate from Costco (I know one had 150 pieces and the other had more than that), and we handed out all but about 20 pieces that we set aside for ourselves. When we ran out of candy, we had to turn our lights out quickly because there were still kids coming.

@lawbee11: LOL that totally sounds like something I would do
We haven't gotten any yet!
pomegranate / 3244 posts
@Mrs.M57: Same here. We live on a busy street with no sidewalks or streetlights. Not a good place for little kids! So DH and I are munching on the candy now
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
We wound up getting a ton. I only have a handful on candy left, and that's because we raided our pantry and found another bag of candy we forgot we had.

This is our first year in the house and we got 55 kids! Our neighbours told us that it varies from 10-50 kids. So we bought for 50 and then had to turn off our lights. But it was 8:30, so I didn't feel too bad. I've never lived somewhere where there was more than 10 kids. It was so much fun!

We don't get that much since our street has more car traffic but we weren't home anyways as we were trick or treating ourselves. We just left a bucket of candy outside.
honeydew / 7444 posts
We got 2!! Ughhh...guess who is most likely going to finish that candy???
grapefruit / 4056 posts
We had 57, since we moved here we have had a large increase every year (20 the first, 40 the second, 57 this year). Our neighbourhood is only about 1/2 developed, so I think it will increase for a long time
blogger / pomegranate / 3300 posts
We had more than 500 At 8 we ran out and our street was still packed with kids.
persimmon / 1408 posts
We got 99 exactly (hubby always counts). We live within a mile of 3 schools in a neighborhood with no through traffic... So we get lots of kiddos!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
DH said we got 1 group (father and his two kids). So our grand total over the last 4 years is 3 families.
apricot / 359 posts
About a dozen groups of kids...so around 24 kids all together roughly? I love trick or treaters!! Their eyes light up when they see what kind of candy they're gonna get.
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
We get a ton. We went through 120 pieces of candy plus we gave out the stuff that we got trick or treating for lo.
Our neighborhood goes all out decorating, one house does a haunted house, etc so people come from all over to see. We actually were late because we went out to dinner .... next year we decided to eat dinner here so we'll need a lot more candy!

We live on a dirt road and get 0. We used to get 1 - my niece would come by to show us our costume, but she's 12 and decided she's done trick or treating.
I grew up on a street that butted up to an elementary school in a heavily populated suburb, and we would get 100s. What a change...

@Rainbow Sprinkles: Holy crap!
I was so excited, it was our first Halloween in a neighborhood, and I got mad at DH for getting us home late, I wanted to see the TOT's!!
Soo, total for the night: 2.
His niece, and a 16 year old from next door not in costume. Boo

@lawbee11: i go to my parents' house and they give out the big candy, each person gets one piece so we can keep track of the exact number! =)
@Oceanis723: whoa!! that's adds up to a pretty penny! what kind of candy did you give out?
i was at my parents' house and they'd had 200 when i left, so probably just a few over that. they live in a nice, well lit neighborhood with sidewalks on both sides, so people from other areas come to trick or treat there. usually they get between 200-275 kids.
pomelo / 5331 posts
I stopped counting, we got so many this year! Last year we got like 4 (we lived in a different neighborhood closer to a busy street). We didn't get anywhere near what some of you did, but we definitely ran out of candy! Then again, I was giving 3 pieces each at the beginning of the night because I wasn't expecting much.
