1 dating at 8 weeks, 1 NT scan at 13 weeks, 1 anatomy at 19, 1 check up on something they found at anatomy at 24 weeks.
So, four total. Don't expect any more but hoping they might squeeze in one final one at the end for some reason so we can take another peak

I had an NT scan at 12 weeks, an anatomy scan at 20 and then a follow up at 22 for "poor fetal position", and an elective 3D/4D at 28 weeks.
I expect to have another later in the pregnancy to check for fetal size as the ladies in my family have BIG babies.
So 4 now, maybe 5 by the end.

I had 7 total. A dating one at 10 weeks, the anatomy scan at 22 weeks then 3 others with my midwife ti check position because lo was a tricky one to figure out then 2 at the hospital to confirm she was breech.

1. We'll be having our gender scan any day now. Our birth center requires one ultrasound at 20 weeks to make sure that all the organs are forming properly so that they can make sure there isn't a high risk situation that would bar us from giving birth at the center.
Unless there are problems, that will be the only one.

Viability one at 8 weeks, NT scan at 13 weeks and the anatomy one is Monday, at 20 weeks. That is all that is on my schedule, unless something else comes up.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
I had about 10 but I had to get extra U/S because of an early bleeding issue and later on because wonky blood work from my NT scan.
pomegranate / 3516 posts
I had 6. We had the dating at around 9 weeks, an elective gender scan at 16, anatomy scan at 21, follow up to anatomy scan to check my cervix at 29, an elective 4d scan at 32, and one to check her size at 37.
coconut / 8498 posts
4. Dating, anatomy, one to check that my low-lying placenta had resolved itself, and one more to check size/position/fluid levels.

so far: dating scan at 8 weeks, nt scan at 11 weeks, anatomy scan at 19 weeks, and a follow-up a/s at 23 weeks. i'm 24.5 weeks now, and it looks like starting around 28-30 weeks we'll be having regular ultrasounds to check her growth and my cord since i have a VCI. i'm glad to be able to see her more frequently. i love watching her bounce around the screen!

Only one! And babe turned out to be breach so I wish I had a later one! Lol
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
I had them at weeks 7, 9, 11, 12, 13.5, and will have one at 19 weeks, plus a fetal-echocardiogram, and we'll see how many more after that

10 or 12? I saw a perinatologist so I almost had one at every appointment.

Viability at 8 weeks, NT at 12, anatomy at 21, and one last quick peek to check his head position when I was being admitted at the hospital in labor (I was nearly screaming in pain from having to be flat on my back for it...back labor and no epidural yet).

around 15-16. ya i had a complicated pregnancy. alot i know but every ultrasound was def needed.

3 so far: 7weeks for viability scan, 13 weeks for NT scan, 19 weeks for anatomy scan
pomegranate / 3438 posts
I had a lot. I'm not even sure how many. I know I had one at 6 and 8 weeks with the RE, then at 9, 12, 14 and 16 weeks with the OB. My A/S at 20 weeks and I had 2 or 3 after that just to look at his size towards the end.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
I had a dating scan at 7.5 weeks and will have an NT scan at 12. No anatomy scan. But I have a potential for incompetent cervix so will need them weekly relatively early, not sure exactly when. Not crazy about that but better than pre-term labor.

let's see... TV = transvaginal
At the RE:
-2 pre-iui scans (TV)
-1 5 week scan (TV)
-1 9 week scan (TV)
At the OB/GYN:
-1 12 weeks scan (NT, my first regular go at it)
-1 20 week scan (anatomy, regular)
-1 20 week (cervix, TV)
-1 26.5 week scan (regular)
-1 26.5 week scan (cervix, TV)
So i'm up to 9 ultrasounds at 26.5weeks - 6 transvaginal and 3 regular.

@JoJoGirl: Why aren't you having an anatomy scan? You can still have it without finding out the sex.
pear / 1698 posts
-1 dating ultrasound at 8 weeks
-1 ultrasound to check on a cyst/placenta previa at 16 weeks
-1 ultrasound for anatomy scan at 20 weeks
-1 ultrasound to check on placenta previa after bleeding at 27 weeks
-2 3-d ultrasounds (baby wasn't cooperating the first time) at 32 and 33 weeks
- 1 measurement scan at week 34
-4 more Biophysical Profile ultrasounds from weeks 34-38 because at my 3-D ultrasound the tech saw I had a grade 3 placenta and my baby and fundal height are measuring small.
So I think I'm up to 11 right now. I will continue to get the BPPs done at least weekly until I go into labor,

7 so far at 26 weeks. I expect to have about 7 more before I deliver. My ob practice treats all twin pregnancies as high risk, so I had monthly u/s up til 20 weeks, now I'm on biweekly u/s, and by 30 weeks I'll have weekly ones.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Smurfette: Oh, i didn't realize it was important for reasons other than finding out the sex, ha ha. If our OB/midwife recommends it, we'll do it, but if it's just for the sex, I think we are team green. And because I'm going to need so damn many t/v u/s for my cervix, I'm happy to drop one if possible.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@JoJoGirl: Yeah from my understanding they look over everything, heart, brain, kidneys, etc. Good for you holding out to find out the sex. I couldn't do it. Fingers crossed and baby cooperates on Monday, cause the suspense is killing me!

-dating ultrasound at 6 weeks (transvaginal)
-follow-up at 10 weeks (transvaginal)
-nuchal test at 13 weeks (transvaginal)
-follow-up at 16 weeks (transvaginal)
-anatomy scan #1 at 20 weeks (transvaginal. She was SO low that the belly one didnt work well.)
-anatomy scan #2 at 22 weeks (they needed more measurements as she wasnt cooperating.)
Every 4 weeks from 22-30 (so 2)
weekly or twice weekly from 30-40, plus 2 ER visits. So at least 12 in that time
My total is about 22. I got multiple printouts from each. I made an album out of them lol. I was also high risk, so they were needed for sizing and monitoring
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Smurfette: Ah good to know. We haven't gotten ahead of ourselves with anything past the NT scan yet. And I am dying to find out but DH is all for team green and I can't bring myself to take that away from him.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I know... it was because I had a midwife. They don't do them. I actually had to go somewhere else to get my anatomy scan.

My dr did a quick one at every visit, which I know is not the norm. We had 4 more detailed ones: nt scan, 2 part anatomy scan, and growth u/s.

We had three with the first one: dating, anatomy scan, and around 39 weeks my doctor wanted to check the position of the baby since she wasn't 100% (she was sunny side up) and she also wanted to make sure she was happy in there since my body hasn't been progressing.
Only one so far with this baby (dating) and hoping to have only one more.

So far I've had 8.
TV at 5 weeks -- I had spotting and wanted a u/s for peace of mind and to make sure it wasn't ectopic
TV at 6 weeks -- my regularly scheduled dating appointment, where we saw the heartbeat for the first time
TV at 7 weeks -- because I was still spotting when I had my 6-week
NT scan at 12 weeks
TV at 16 weeks for cervical length
TV at 18 weeks for cervical length, and anatomy scan
TV at 20 weeks for cervical length (not scheduled, I had gone into L&D because I was worried I was leaking amniotic fluid and since I was there they wanted to do another cervical measurement)
TV at 23 weeks -- it was a regularly scheduled appointment, no u/s scheduled but they wanted to do one last cervical measurement just to make sure everything was still OK.
Background, I had LEEP done on precancerous cervical cells in '05 so they wanted to make sure I wasn't having cervical incompetence. Hence all the u/s

I'll have 2 if all goes well. I had one at 8 weeks for dating, and I'll have the anatomy scan at 19 weeks.
nectarine / 2163 posts
Like @Coco Bee: I only had the anatomy scan. I would have had an 8 week one too if I'd found a midwife early enough, but I don't have one until I was 20 weeks. That's all they do in NZ, unless you pay for another one yourself.
nectarine / 2834 posts
#1 - 6 weeks at RE to confirm a heartbeat (transvaginal)
#2 - 8 weeks at Ob/Gyn to confirm pregnancy (transvaginal)
#3 - 10 weeks at Ob/Gyn for dating (transvaginal)
#4 - 12 weeks NT scan (transvaginal)
#5 - 20 weeks anatomy scan - stayed Team Green!
#6 - 36 weeks at Ob/gyn a very quick and undetailed one just to check size and position.

5. 18 weeks- Anatomy scan with perinatoligist
6. 21 weeks I had a fetal echocardiogram because my brother had heart problems
