If you have a child between 12-18 months, how many words do they have?
Our youngest is 16 months and she has maybe 10 words but repeats everything. I'm comfortable with where she's at, however it's hard since her sister was talking 3-4 word sentences at this age. (I know, don't compare, but it's hard not too!) I'm not worried at all, just interesting that they are so different. How many words does your LO have?

Logan is 19m and is just starting to get more words. At his 18m well-visit he had 10 words, which is how many they expect at that age.

DD1 had well over 300 at 18 months.
DD2 has 50.
Her doctor says she's actually ahead. Doesn't feel like it when I'm used to her chatterbox sister.

Sentences at that age are rare is my understanding. T has 10+ works- but has barely been talking since she's been so sick- over a week 
she's 16 months. Seagull is one of her words, Mama is not.

@youboots: Agreed.
I think your older daughter was pretty advanced to be speaking 3-4 word sentences at that young of an age. LO1 (who is a boy) didn't start speaking in 3-4 word sentences until he was over 2. LO2 (who is also a boy) is 10 months, and we're still waiting on his first word other than Mama and Dada.

DS is 13 months and isn't reliably saying much. Probably three words: go, bath, and ball. DD was saying so much more at this age. I was warned it would be this way by many that had girl/boy. I'm not succeeding at not comparing but I'm not dwelling on it. I'm also wondering if I'm just counting/catching fewer words since I'm not solely focused on DS.

DS was occasionally speaking in sentences at 16 months and had sooo many words. Like, so many that I stopped keeping track.
DD is 17 months and she has around 15 words, max.

DD2 is 15 months and I'd say she is the same as your LO. She repeats a ton, even short sentences. But the words she has on her own aren't a lot and some are very hard to understand. Like you, her older sister was already saying a few sentences at this time and it's hard not to compare. But I feel okay with where she's at as well. Her comprehension is great so I'm not concerned.

Mine seemed to get words slowly at first (I remember she only had like 2 words at 12 months, maybe 10-20 at 16 months). She had a language explosion around 18 months and had 3-4 word sentences by 24 months.

At 16 months my son said mama, dada, and hi. I was totally worried even though I tried not to be. By 17 months he had a lot more words (30? 50? No idea. Def not sentences though) so it changed very quickly.

@oliviaoblivia: That is my fear with LO#2 G is such a chatted box, complete sentences, sings songs word for word and I don't want to compare, who knows he might be more

@FaithFertility: it's so hard not to. C has always been quiet and more observant and a four word sentence will pop out occasionally but I'll maybe only hear ten words all day. A on the other hand will not shut up (chattering not crying.) She's six months old and the noisiest person in the house.

DD just turned 12 months and she has two that we've noticed: kitty and doggie. I really want her to say mama!

C is 15.5 months and has about 5-6 words. A had way more but I think he's doing fine. He understand a lot more than that

@2PeasinaPod: Yes we were told she was very advanced, some of our videos are still hard to believe, so it's hard to not "compare" with her younger sister.

My wee guy is 16 months and has maybe 6-12 words but he does spend the day chattering away and is very good at getting his message across!

My LO is quite the chatterbox. At 12 months she had only 2 words (Daddy and Kitty) but they came fast after that. At 15 months she had about a dozen. At 16 months I stopped keeping track of the individual words but off the top of my head I just thought of 20 but I'm guessing I'm missing some - so maybe 30. She combines a couple - "bye bye kitty" for example. However she's chattier than the average baby her age. Minimum of 4-5 at 15 months and 8+ at 18 months is more typical.

At 21 months, we have 2. Receptive language is good, he is just not verbal and has only three signs.

LO is 14 months. He has a handful of words in each of his languages. I think he has about 15-17 words total, but, he may have Spanish or Ukranian words that I'm not recognizing.

@Adira: my daughter has about the same amount... She had her 18 month we'll check yesterday.. I was freaking out because I'd read somewhere that they should have 20 by now, but I don't think that was accurate. I guess 50
Is the min. at 24 months. I hope she'll get there!

My LO is 17 months. She has 20+ words. Sometimes uses 2-word phrases. Plus about 10 signs.
I've noticed in the last couple of months that her receptive language has grown a lot. She is starting to get really good at imitating our words too, so I'm guessing a language explosion is coming.

DD is 13.5 months old, and still doesn't have any words. I'm honestly getting a little concerned. She babbles, and I'm around her often, and nothing is consistent.

My LO was where yours is at that age. She says a lot more now (22 mo) and her language explosion was just after 18 mo. Language is definitely her slowest domain for development (she is all motor!) but she's still on track.

DD is one and has maybe nine words, but she's almost stopped saying them because she's busy learning to walk. I can't wait till she's got that sorted out and starts talking again. I miss her calling me mama!

DD2 has so many words at almost 18 months. She hit a huge explosion around 15 months. She can do full phrases (here you go) as well.
When DD1 was that age she had like 15 words that she repeated constantly and didn't really have an explosion until much closer to 2.
I think it is a very personality driven thing at this age and not something to be concerned about until closer to 2.

@MrsBrewer: We were there and with no signs at that time. In addition, there wasn't a lot of babbling either. He qualified at 14 months for early intervention in speech. He has improved to three signs and two words. He does know sounds, but we don't hear words.

My 13mo has 7 words plus maybe 3 signs? But I would say she only uses 3 regularly.

DS is 16 months and I'd say he has about 20 words. We shake our heads though because he has words like lemonade, baseball and thank you. We hear those more often than the typical first words like mama, dada or ball. Silly boy.
