I'm a bad mom and have not really been counting for my 15 month old but I think this sounds crazy too. She has about 20 words now but some she has only said a few times and I include animal sounds. I can't imagine that tripling in less than 3 months.

At 18 months we are currently sitting at approx. 42 words. I haven't counted any that he's said only once and not again. I did count mispronunciations, though. But he uses all those words in context and has multiple times.

My LO2 is 14 months and probably has 30+ words and strings a couple together (what's that, here you go, all gone, all done), but I think that is very, very unusual for her age. I think that's more words than my first daughter had at 18 months.

She has probably close to 90-100 words, and strings them together (Daddy, toast butter please or Mama, coat boots). BUT I know that's not typical- she has always been chatty.

LO is 18 months today and I actually just counted in preparation for her appointment. She has around 50-60.

We were in the same boat at 18m as @Mrs. Oatmeal. DS said approx 100 words by 18m and was stringing them together. At 2 he's talking in 3-4 word sentences. That being said, he's always been a talker and was talking before he was walking.
