How long, on average, are your two year olds sentences? My LO just turned 2 last month and her sentences are 3-5 words on average, nothing more at this point. Looking for the norm/average.

H is 2.5 but has consistently been ahead verbally. I think at 2, she had several complex sentences. Most of the kids in her class either had fewer words and sentences or were right on par with 3-5 word sentences.

DS2 turns 2 tomorrow. He can put together 5-7 word sentences, but I think he's a little advanced verbally. My oldest was more in the 3-5 range at age 2.

A friend of a friend is a speech therapist and she said that the minimum is two word sentences at two years old and three word sentences at three years old. It's not necessarily advanced if they do more than that, it's more of the threshold of what they worry about. i.e. if they can't do 2 word sentences at 2yo there might be an issue.
Not sure if that has anything to do with what you are trying to find out, but I found it interesting when I heard that.And I never googled this or did more research, I just heard that through word of mouth. So don't take it as gospel.
