I gave my mom the guest list (and addresses) and helped decide the date, location, and time. But other than that, she did the rest!

I think that, in general, it's not "acceptable" to host a shower for yourself, but if you're just helping your sister out and she's really "the host" and you enjoy doing this kind of thing, then have at it!

I provided the guest list and ok'd the date. I like that the theme, food, and decorations were all a surprise to me!

My MIL and my mom threw my shower and used me in the middle for communication. It drove me crazy! I finally had to tell them to talk to each OTHER. I just wanted to show up and enjoy.

@Danizaur: I offered to help my mom is anyway she needed, but she pretty much took control. I think if you're willing to help and don't mind doing what you're doing, then it's fine! I just maybe wouldn't talk about it too much with the people you're inviting or they might get the wrong idea (that you're hosting your own shower).

@Danizaur: That's a good idea! I'm sure if she needs help, she'll ask!

My SIL is planning everything.. I just gave her my guest list! I also told her I like the idea where each guest brings a favorite book for baby's first library, but that's it as far as input goes. I loved the invite she chose, so I'm sure the rest will be lovely! Only 2 more weeks...

@Danizaur: I helped with a lot of it. My mom doesn't really know how to take care of that stuff. I was making the centerpieces, favors and helping with the cake.

We are not having a shower, but I will be involved in planning a small gathering for family and friends after the baby is born!

I did the invites, and my mom (and friend) did the rest!!

I gave my hostess the guestlist, and approved the venue, as she was planning from out of town and wanting to be sure it was up to par. My hostess also had a baby (maybe 10 months, at the time), but she insisted on no help.

Just provided the guest list, and my friends took care of everything else.

Zip, zero, zilch! They told me when and where to show up, that's it other than giving out a couple addresses.

If it were up to me though, we wouldn't have done one, as I really, really don't like being the center of attention. My MIL and SIL are big on that kind of stuff and we were already in the area for a family wedding, so I went with it as a nice chance to visit with family.

I didn't do anything except provide the guest list! My friends were so awesome.
