I'm kinda scared to add it up but based on todays blog post, $500 seems really low!

I can't really tally. For our first, it was just stuff for me, as our insurance was amazing. For our second, I think it was like $8,000 (deductible for me and also for baby) but I can't remember the exact deductible. This time, I know my deductible is 5K and I will absolutely use it, baby I'm not sure how much. But I'm spending about 100 on maternity clothes this time around (just need a few summer things). Total cost of all kids is probably going to be over $15K.

It was $3500 ish for medical alone. So easily over $5K by the time we bought nursery furniture. This time we don't have as much to buy but I assume medical will be about the same.

Oh man, I don’t want to know!!

Rough estimates – I know medical costs were around/at least $5k all in; including seeing a couple of different specialists, the cost of Rx co-pays, OTC drugs, etc.

Clothing – my MIL spent over $1k on maternity clothes for me, including professional suits and clothing (thankyouthankyouthankyou) and I spent a few hundred myself….so maybe $1500 all together? I gained a ton of weight, swelling increased my foot size by 1 shoe size and I went from an A cup to a DD, so I legit actually needed a full new wardrobe of clothes, under clothes and shoes.

Probably about $300 total between prenatal yoga classes, other pregnancy-related classes, pillows, etc.

Who knows what I'm missing!

For just maternity stuff, under 1k for my LO. Insurance covered all medical stuff so it was just prenatals, maternity clothes, and misc. stuff like seabands, a pregnancy pillow, books, and prenatal exercise dvds.

This pregnancy, I was on progesterone supplements and diclegis, which are both pricey, but I won't need to buy as many maternity clothes, so I would guess it will end up under $500 (I hope).

If you start counting how much income I lose on maternity leave, or the amount we spent on stuff for LO while I was still pregnant, it's a whole different story!

My first was easily over 7k. I think the medical bills alone were 7.5k. That was a big factor in our decision about whether or not to have another kid.

I think my second probably came in under $250, mostly maternity clothes. I bought almost all of my maternity clothes from bees or swap.com, but I tossed everything after I had my first (we were like 98% sure we were one and done). The total medical cost for her was...$50, which included a $25 co-pay to get my IUD out, and a $25 co-pay for the rest of the pregnancy (one ER visit, 10+ ultrasounds, and a C-section).

Are we counting getting pregnant, or just once we got pregnant? Getting pregnant, let's say $30,000? Being pregnant, under $1000, and that's pretty much just maternity clothes, vitamins, and parking over 2 pregnancies.

Oh yea, prenatals and other supplements are more too!

I voted for $500 or less - but that doesn't include our monthly insurance premiums (which are sky high, but not just for pregnancy-related health issues.) Doctors appts/birth was a $10 copay for us. I spent probably $350 on maternity clothes, $100 on prenatals/stretch mark cream (didn't help, ha), and $30 for a pregnancy pillow

First pregnancy:
$100 on clothing
$125 hospital stay.

Second (current) pregnancy:
$150 clothing (different season)
$100 on morning sickness medication (still!)
I'm anticipating a $125 hospital bill if I can get a private room again

Being pregnant/Delivery: Approx 1k
Getting Pregnant: Mid 30k

Barely any maternity clothes the first time (borrowed a lot)
Prenatal vitamins

I think that's it. Less then $200.

This time a bit more because I've paid for parking a few times, overnight trip in a hotel because I had an ultrasound in another city, bought some mat clothes.

What about nursery costs? Or are we excluding that?

Also, I did IVF so it was a pretty penny to do it. $18K

1st trimester meds was about $350 (progesterone in oil and esterdiol)

I accumulated items like pregnancy pillow from a flash sale and bought a belly band.

As for medical, I paid about $200 for 6 week hospital stay and birth of the twins. For the twins 2 week nicu stay, I paid $250. I paid $200 ($400 total) for the two hospital stays because of HG. I had a few accupunture copays. All together from the time I was pregnant to after the babies were released from the nicu, I paid about $1745. (I confirmed these amounts by logging into my medical insurance account).

Oh, I took an expecting multiples class. That was $210.

Maternity clothes was borrowed but I did spend about $250 on new clothes before my friends and family gave me maternity clothes to borrow.

So total, I would say about $3k not including IUI/IVF costs.

I figured IVF costs into my poll answer but now I realize I might not have understood the question. I said $9k plus.

I was billed about $800 for some tests before we switched our insurance over to more coverage.

I spent <$75 on a few maternity shirts, borrowed everything else

Borrowed body pillow from friend

Maybe $30-40 on a few bottles of prenatal vitamins

Anti-nausea meds were covered by insurance, maybe $5 co-pay?

So I voted less than $1000.

First pregnancy : less than $100
$40-50 on clothes
$20 on prenatals
$20 o progesterone
(Was gifted some maternity clothes, got a free pregnancy pillow, and all this does not include the insurance premium)

Second pregnancy: less than $50
-$25-30 clothes
-$10 prenatals
(Saved stuff from first pregnancy and again this does not include insurance premium)

We had double coverage, very low premiums ($0 for one policy, $30 a month for the other) and good insurance on both sides.

Finishing off my yearly deductible: $200
Prenatals: $30
Maternity clothes: $50
Newborn hospital care: $300

I voted $500 and under, but forgot about vitamins at first.

No idea! And I'm terrified to even think about adding it all up.
