I've been contributing to for about 12 years and DH for about 6 years and we have a little over 250k in 401k. We typically contribute as close to the max as possible allowed per year.

In NZ we have Kiwisaver which I guess is kind of the same thing. Mine's pretty small even though I've had mine since the fund started because I went back to study. Hubby only started his when we got together (listened to his lovely wife
