$19?! Doesn't the USPS have those boxes that "ship for one flat rate"? I thought that if it fit in the box it was always the same rate no matter the weight.

I know the large flat rate boxes are about $15. I used to send those to DH when he was deployed. I think the small ones are around $6.

@Sweet T: you had to pay to ship things to your DH when he was deployed?

I'm in Canada, but when my BIL was in Afghanistan, we just brough care packages to any base or armouries with his information plastered on it, and they would ship it to him no cost to us.

I can't figure out the USPS at ALL. I've shipped some giant boxes and had it cost like, 6 bucks, and a teeny-tiny package has gone for $15...so confuuuused.

@prettylizy: yep, we were responsible for anything we wanted to send. They do have a military discount (the large flat rate box was $12 instead of $15) but it was all out of pocket.

If you shipped something really heavy, even if it was small, it will be expensive. The smallest flat rate box is around $6, and as long as the stuff fits, it doesn't matter how heavy it is. But if it is a light item, it will probably be cheapest to mail first class.
We get ok service but it's not great. I try to only use the machine, but the worst is when it's of of order!

I know it is a rip-off, but the USPS is hurting incredibly bad financially which has sent postage skyrocketing. Sometimes I will send media mail and it is sooooo much cheaper!!!

Just shipped a package from TX to MA today for $3

I shipped 3 can if formula to Florida from Michigan (polar opposite ends if the country) for only 7.99. I fit them (stuffed them) into 1 box.

Yeah, get the flat rate box next time...nothing should cost that much, if it fits!
