I knew it was coming. But holy shit.
How much hair did you lose? I'm starting to wonder if I'm losing more than normal and if I should ask my doc or something...

At the time, I was sure that I was going to go bald. I have a lot of hair to begin with and shed a decent amount normally, but holy crap did I shed after the baby. It's back to normal now at 11 months postpartum.

I lost so much I started to wonder if it was normal. Which, I think is normal!
haha
It did eventually slow down, and then it all started to slowly grow back, nice and short, and in random places on my head. Now I have fancy little puffs of hair everywhere. Great look.
ETA: Like, so much hair that when I put my hair into a pony tail I could almost see bald spots. Which have since grown in.

And then it starts to grow back in so you get all these very lovely short hairs that do wacky things.

So much. And it seemed to go on for so long.
Now it's all growing back so I have 2 inch long hairs all over. Hair spray is no match for it, and I pretty much always have my hair in a ponytail to keep it from little miss grabby hands. Plus my hairline is pretty much one big cowlick. So, I look like a mess All The Time. Or i wear a headband and look like I'm coming from the gym or cleaning my bathroom. It's awesome.
Did that make you feel better about what's to come after you stop shedding?

@.twist.: Yes-- not quite bald spots, but you could definitely see scalp.

A lot! My hairline was a little sad for a few months!

I have a ton of hair and while I lost a ton, it didn't make a dent.
However, the hairline loss, plus the sparkplug regrowth? ugh still dealing with it at 21 months pp!

Sooo much hair! It's so gross after a shower. It doesn't help that they try to rip out handfuls every chance they get!

I don't know how much is normal, but I'm losing tons too. But I have a lot of thick hair so you can't see it. However, I see the hair all over my clothes and floor.

@twodoghouse: yes! I have to wear a ponytail around the baby at all times so he doesn't grab it.

Oh no, this is scary... I have very thin hair to begin with, and I've been enjoying lots of good hair days with the pregnancy!!

So much. It just keeps falling out. The worst of it seems to be over, now, but I still have strands falling out every day. The baby hairs are coming in, also.

More than I thought possible. Fistfuls would fall out in the shower. But like pp, I have a ton of hair to begin with.

@twodoghouse: I joked that the hair loss is natures way of letting the baby grab on to your hair and instead of ripping it out it just falls out in their hands! He often has fist fulls of my hair in his hands - not cool. Really though it was one of those things that people tell you about but you don't believe it till its happening to you. now I get what my friends had warned me about.

I actually ended up with two bald spots near my hairline. The sad part is, I didn't even notice until it started to grow back. That new mom haze is no joke.

So much...seriously, for like 6+ months. It's even worse when it starts to grow back and you have all of the itty bitty baby hairs that just get longer. The underneath of my hair is 2 lengths...horrible.

So much! After I do my hair I have to go through and clean the floor/counter etc. In the shower, it gets clogged every shower.

Ugh, yes. It comes out by the handful and makes such a gross mess. I just wear a ponytail now or else the baby is covered in my hair.

Wow! This is scary. I'm 30 weeks pregnant, and I know it's coming! I have lost 50% of my hair before due to stress, and it's NOT fun. I'm really hoping that my hair doesn't remember that and say, "We should do that again!"
Also, can the person who voted that they are completely bald please explain!? You're scaring me!

A lot. It sucked. At 28 months postpartum, it's pretty much back to normal but I still have these annoying baby bang things. And now I'm pregnant again, so I can look forward to more hair loss in my future.

Glad I'm not alone... I guess? Lol my hair was thin to start and it's such a straggly mess now. I need a hair cut but I feel like no cut could make this cute anyways

It's weird I never had much loss that was noticeable, maybe a little bit. But I also never got awesome pregnancy hair or noticed less loss then. Maybe my hair didn't get the pregnancy memo on either side! And here I thought I was missing out ...

A lot and it's still going!!
When I was pregnant, I could wrap a ponytail holder around my hair 3 times but it was too loose but I couldn't squeeze in the 4th wrap no matter how hard I tried
Now it wraps 4 times easily and is still way too loose.

@mrsog: This theory makes perfect sense, and the timing coincides - they start grabbing right when our hair loosens up. But how could that be evolutionarily advantageous? So weird.
And yes, @Mae: losing loads more than usual, constantly, every time I touch my hair, and finding loose stands everywhere in the house and on LO.

I gag every time I sweep my hardwood floors. My hair is everywhere. I sometimes find it in the fridge. So gross.
