I invite you to share how you told your family/surprised your family with the news of your pregnancy!
I am trying to plan a way to surprise my parents (who live several states away) with the news. Your suggestions are welcome!

Congrats!
My parents were visiting my sister and her family in TX for Easter. I sent flowers on Good Friday that said "We wish we could be there to spend Easter with all of you! Love, 78h20, DH, and baby (due Dec '12). My mom said my Dad teared up when he read the card.
ETA: I picked this method mainly because I was dying to tell them and I could get the flowers there the same day! I told them as soon as I found out my betas looked really good.

I called my parents the day I found out, but for everyone else, I posted this picture on Facebook.

Nothing cute here. We'd been TTC for over 2.5 years and my parents knew about my IF, so I told them the quickest way possible - over the phone! I don't think they would've had it any other way!

My parents knew, but to tell my brother and family and grandma, we wrapped a picture frame of my 3 nieces and nephew and the ultrasound picture along with the saying "3 +1 in Early November" and gave one to my grandma and one to my nieces. They opened it together. My grandma didn`t get it, but my 9 year old niece did! I video taped it, my grandma then got so excited! I have never seen her get up and move that fast!

We told both parents in person but just telling them, nothing cute, even though I wish we would have. Pending everything goes good at my appointment today we will have LO announce on FB that she's going to be a big sister!

I saw my parents to tell them, but I put the ultrasound picture in a frame with the capture "Expected March 2013" and wrapped it and then had them open it. They were very surprised!!

for both sets of parents we wrapped up little grandma onesies. i forget the exact wording... my grandma loves me or something. we gave it to my ILs at the same time we gave them an anniversary card so they didn't expect it at all. my mom said she knew the instant i handed it to her... because i never randomly give them gifts! they were all ecstatic and i loved seeing their faces

Congrats!
We found out on Xmas, and my dads birthday is NYE.
We don't normally do birthdays but we had dinner the night before & I signed the card from the three of us and baby. I had Chloe give my dad his gift & I recorded it. I love having his reaction on tape!
For my ILs, my husband made an announcement. He was so formal about it lol he was excited though!
For my nana, we had Chloe in a big sister shirt. It took her forever to get it! I filmed her reaction too.
Then I texted that video to my aunts, uncles and cousins.

For our first it was just phone calls. We found out mid December so I told my parents Christmas came early and that we were expecting. For our second we had photos done of big sis announcing. We sent them electronically to immediate family.

I took a picture of our two dogs with a pair of baby shoes and the picture said "We're getting a new sibling...arriving February 2015" I put it in the middle of an online album of photos from our vacation, and then while I was skyping with my parents, I asked them if they wanted to see the pictures. When they got to the picture their reaction was so great! It took my mom a minute though, she thought we were getting another dog!
