At this point, I'm just hungry so I'll eat anything I'm craving. I do love fruit and veggies so I'll eat my fair share of healthy foods but right now I'm eating BBQ chips as a pre-lunch snack.

Shockingly. I have had horrible ms and still feel nauseous at 18 weeks so I am all about the sweets, ice cream and yoghurt. I forgot what veggies look like.

@travelgirl1: My sister said she used eat salads for lunch (pre-pregnancy) and now she can't eat salads at all. I wonder when the food aversions will start.

I gave into cravings all the time. One of my favorite things about pregnancy was I felt like I was a bottomless pit all the time. So, I could eat an entire meal and then eat a giant sundae.

I was so good with LO #1 b/c I was diagnosed with GD. It was probably the healthiest I've ever eaten.
This time around, I have such bad morning sickness that I've been eating like crap. Whatever makes me feel better is what I've been eating...and that's a whole lot of carby stuff.

@bluestriped bee: I hated veggies when pregnant!!! I'm not a huge fan of them anyway but couldn't handle them while pregnant.
That said, I ate ok. Kept bad stuff to a minimum but did treat myself. I had a lot of milk!

I ate indulged too much for my first. Pregnancy 2 and now 3 are healthy because of my GD diet.

I was doing great, but it all went downhill Sunday. Nothing sounds that good and I'm not feeling great so I've been eating mostly carbs. I'm only 6 weeks so hopefully it will get better in a few weeks.

First tri I craved salads and fresh fruit, so I ate pretty well. After finding out it was twins, I tried to get as much protein as possible. I had aversions to most meat while pregnant, but mixed protein powder into anything I could stomach. At a certain point, I was so full of baby that I just tried to eat little meals as often as possible. There just wasn't room for two babies and a full meal in my 5'2", short torsoed self.

I was really good in the first and second tri but that sort of all went out the window in the third.

@bluestriped bee: How far along are you? Usually week 6 is when it all kicks off. I was lucky (sarcasm) and got it at 5.

With DS, I sort of just ate whatever. I didn't really have any real cravings though. I just ate a lot consistently and didn't exercise much either.
This time, I was sick a lot longer and am just coming out of the fog at 16 weeks. But moreso than not the only things I've really craved or kept down are fruits, veggies, sometimes carbs. I'm also way more active and conscious about my intake and exercise (or lack thereof) this time.

All I wanted to eat with both of my boys was fruit and veggies. No meat. My go to snack or meal was apples and peanut butter. At night time of it was a really rough day I would melt dark chocolate into my peanut butter and drizzle it on my apples.

I'm right down the middle (as I snack on Valentine's day candy) but I do everything in moderation and my snacks are always fruits/veggies.

i'm 32 weeks and honestly i have eaten horribly this entire pregnancy. i had pretty awful morning (all day) sickness until probably 20 weeks and by that time i was into such bad habits... i've been so exhausted too and commute 4 hours a day so prepping food/meals has not been a high priority. now that i'm firmly in the 3rd tri some of my evening nausea is back and i just can't be bothered. luckily i haven't gained much weight but i feel bad i'm not giving this lil one more nutrients just trying to survive!

Better towards the beginning, worse towards the end. At first I just felt like shit and nothing sounded good so I figured if I wasn't going to enjoy eating anyways I might as well eat boring healthy food. Then after 20 weeks cravings started to hit and I ate all the food. ALL OF IT.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting my daily fruit intake. Besides that, I'm doing ok. I just don't feel like eating fruit most of the time.

I should be sleeping, but now I'm craving some chips!
I ate surprisingly well during pregnancy - way better than I normally do. I wish I can say it's because of sheer willpower, but really it's because fried foods made me nauseous and desserts tasted way too sweet.
honeydew / 7622 posts
Thanks to GD lately healthier than usual. Before that during killer MS I ate to survive, so mac and cheese and all the ice cream.

In the first tri I did my best but with morning sicknes, a week long vacation to Florida and then the Holidays I struggled a little but I still did okay. Now that the holidays are over I'm doing great. I eat a ton but I'm eating very very clean and am feeling proud

I was pretty nauseous my first tri and I couldn't stand drinking water which I normally loved. Hated it. It got easier as I progressed.
I loved sugar, though Especially ice cream and ice cream sandwiches. I did, however, try to eat a vegetable at every meal and fruit and I limited caffeine - I made coffee mainly just for the ritual aspect (I drank maybe less than 1/2 cup a day) .

With my first pregnancy I ate super healthy. No junk food allowed in the house. Now with my second I'm eating anything and everything! Chips, ice cream, cheese fries...

Ugh I ate way too much sugar for both pregnancies. I have no control when I'm pregnant it seems. I also ate healthy but a lot of candy, chocolate, milk and cheese.

I'm trying to eat lots of fruits and veggies at meals but for snacks, I must eat all.the.bakedgoods. and ice cream.

Not very well. All I wanted was carbs - esp pizza. In the beginning I couldn't stand chicken. But I did try to balance it out with healthy salads and snacks after my aversions subsided.

First pregnancy - CARBS ALL THE TIME.... At the end of the second tri and into the third I started doing a little better.
This time - I'm only 8 weeks and i'm having more nausea this time than last time and eating is the only thing that is helping (and sea bands I think) and it's CARBS all the time again, or whatever doesn't make me queasy... Actually, i made salads the last two nights and it was good, along with my carbs.

I ate from the 2 most important (only?) food groups. Carbs and dairy.

Ugh. Terribly. I am embarrassed how terribly I have eaten this pregnancy.

I had a hard time with food until about 20 weeks. I finally got off diclegis at about 22 weeks and my diet has improved dramatically. It's amazing how being sick will Jack with it! I ate like a toddler for months: cheese and crackers and flavored waters and soda. Even water was nasty. It'll pass!
nectarine / 2086 posts
I've always been a pretty healthy eater and indulge in moderation. 14 Wks now and I've just been continuing my same habits. No morning sickness tho. My only cravings have been for fruit.
pomegranate / 3706 posts
Terribly. Couldn't keep much down, even water made me vomit, and what I could eat was always super random, not always healthy. My doc just said whatever I could eat or drink was ok, even if that meant sipping Coke all day long (one of my "safe" drinks while pregnant).
persimmon / 1179 posts
First trimester was a crap shoot this time, same as with my first. Food aversions and nausea make it hard to eat anything but toast haha. Second trimester has already been better and I've been able to get more balanced.
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
So far, this pregnancy has been all carbs. I can usually stomach a healthy (protein packed) dinner, but rarely anything except toast or a smoothie for breakfast. And the things that have been settling my stomach? Mint gum, mini M&Ms and lemonade! So weird.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
I ate a ton of carbs, fruit, and pretzels during the 1st tri. I couldn't stand veggies and protein. I didn't go as crazy as I could have but I could have been better. I at least kept up with working out. But I still gained too much.
pomelo / 5258 posts
I ate well my first pregnancy after first trimester. This time around I'm 22 weeks and while my meals have improved my snacking is still pretty bad. All I think about is food. I feel guilty if I eat it because it's crap and guilty if I don't because my doctor wanted me to put on a little more weight.
pomelo / 5041 posts
Not really any different from before. Cravings really controlled what I wanted to eat, so sometimes they helped me eat healthier and sometimes they meant I scarfed down lots of unhealthy carbs. I always gained an appropriate amount so I knew I wasn't going too crazy.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
I had awful MS from 5 weeks to 24 weeks? Oddly the only thing that kept my nausea at bay was greasy food and white carbs. I ate a McMuffin for breakfast every day, lots of burgers and fries for lunch, and white rice with fried chicken cutlets for dinner! And lots of milk and cheese and yogurt. Red meat always made me feel better, did not care for veggies, but ate lots of fruit. I was thirsty all the time so I was drinking gallons of water a day. Third tri I started having weird cravings for green juice so I had that a lot.
nectarine / 2600 posts
In the first few weeks, pretty good. I was hungry a lot. Then around 6 weeks I started feeling crappy, and from then til about 13 or 14 weeks, I was just eating what I could. Not always great!
I finally started feeling better a few weeks ago. I still have some aversions here and there, but I've been making an effort to eat better. I've been craving a lot of fruit lately, which is good. DH still doesn't think I'm eating enough, but I had an appt. on Monday and the doc said the weight gain I had so far was fine, so...guess it's ok!
