DH and I were going to put an offer in on a house today (that we both love and have saved for) and found out he is getting laid off instead. Right now, he's looking at jobs online and I am trying not to cry. I know he feels bad and there is no reason to make him feel worse.
It's interesting, because we just had those threads about jobs not being a certainty and how we are each a breath away from financial hardships.
No point to this, really, just

I'm so sorry. I've been in your husbands spot, twice, in the last 3 years. So I know how he and you feel.
The silver lining is that he found out before you put the offer in???

Ah, so sorry to hear that. I hope he finds a new job soon. Maybe that house will stay on the market for awhile?

@ldh112: Nope, he is a teacher and doesn't have severance packages. We do have our families nearby. It's just so much scarier when you have kids to think of.

Hugs! My husband got laid off when our baby was 4 months old with no severance it will be ok. My best advice is do not panic. Review your options. Unemployment for a little while, keep looking for jobs. Would additionally schooling help anything? Can you change anything with your job? You guys will work it out!

My husband lost his job just after Js first birthday. His whole industry changed and it's been tough. We were also house hunting at the time.

I'm sorry, unemployment sucks. I know it's hard to see now, but this opens up the door for a better opportunity! It's hard to keep it in perspective right now, but it could be worse - you could have just closed on that new house instead...you guys will pull through and come out stronger than ever. Take care of and be gentle on yourselves. Things can only go up from here.

I'm so sorry DH has been laid off twice with no severance, and it sucks. But we didn't have kids then. I agree, kids make it so much scarier.

Oh no! I'm so sorry 
This happened to DH in 2014 and though it sucked for a bit, it opened up a door for him to find his dream job! He is so much happier in his career now
