So...DH really wants to go to a concert in NYC (3.5 hr drive away) next Friday, when I'll be 36 weeks. Am I crazy for letting him go? I told him he absolutely cannot get drunk and must have his phone on vibrate...

I think if he's only a few hours away, keeps his phone on and promises to check in, it should be ok! If you were more like 39 weeks I would say heck no!

@Bao: @littlek: I have a dr. appointment the day before the concert too, so I feel a smidge better about it.

@dagret: Yeah I would let him enjoy a night out before the baby comes!

I'd be ok with my DH going as long as he knows that I could call him back at any time. And I'd probably make him check in every few hours because he's miserable about checking his phone.

Bee gave birth around 35 weeks!
Do you have a friend who can help you get to the hospital if the baby comes early? Then I wouldn't worry as much about it!

DH flew across country at 38w, so long as there's a plan for him getting back as fast as humanly possible, I don't see a problem, but you have to be comfortable with it!

When we were discussing it, I made sure that he knew that I could go into labor basically any time in the next 5 weeks. (Just because I don't know that he KNEW that...yesterday he was proposing ripping out our countertops and dishwasher "before the baby comes." Seriously.)
@mrbee: Yes - I was planning on asking a friend so that in case i had to go to L&D my mom wouldn't get jealous of my MIL (who lives 5 min away).
@oliviaoblivia: I definitely will emphasize the checking in on his part!

@Beebug: I am comfortable with it...since I have multiple alternatives to get to the hospital in case something did happen.

DH went on a business trip to Taiwan from weeks 36-37.5. As long as you have someone who knows that he's gone and can take you to the hospital in an emergency, I would let him go.

I would be fine with it as long as you don't feel like anything is happening.
