We are up at my husbands family's lakehouse and there is discussion of ice skating. I'm over 18 wks pregnant and feel fine. I was thinking of going but being very careful and jut kind of shuffle around the rink. I'm not a pro but we skate a few ones a yer and the only times I have fallen is if me and my husband are playing around. Is it stupid to go if I know I could fall?

Is it noticeably affecting your balance yet? Also, is it a really busy rink? If those are both nos, then I think you'd be fine.

Yea its not something I would risk doing. I wanted to play softball around that stage and my husband didn't want me to.
The issue would be not so much that you could fall and harm the baby (which could happen but they are pretty protected) but if you fell and needed x-rays, surgery, etc that would be a lot to put the baby through.
My friend fell at 39 weeks and ended up with a broken arm. She was in a soft cast for delivery and had to have surgery when the baby was 2 weeks old. Because of all the meds she was on she wasn't able to breastfeed.

yah ice skating isn't something i'd do while pregnant!

I wouldn't do it just because I would just be too afraid of falling. I would just sit indoors and drink all the hot chocolate!

I knew the answer to this before I even posted! I just feel like I can't do anything lately! We are skiers and very active and its going to be a slow winter. Yesterday I even pooped out of xbox kinect track and field - I did the mock javelin, discus, and long jump bit felt over exerted when in came time for hurdles so sat down : /

I wouldnt ice skate because when you fall in the ice rink its usually a hard fall

I wouldn't do it. you just never know what could happen. my motto is better safe than sorry!

I feel like it's always better to be safe than sorry. It does suck that we miss out on stuff when pregnant, but it's totally worth it! And really it just prepares you for your future... I can't ice skate now either b/c I'm always watching my baby. But in a few years I'll get to take her ice skating.

I wouldn't do it either. Juuuuust in case something were to happen, I would never forgive myself!

I dunno that sounds too risky. You can still go just cheer from the sidelines!
