I would consider it so I could put the money away for LO for later in life.

I said nope because there's no way either of them would cooperate, despite their raging good looks

I would say yes to boden with a quickness! Bonus points if I could score some free clothes.

I know child models don't make much money, but I would be so tickled to see his face in the store or in a catalog!

Yes, but I'd be very careful in how I presented it to my child - as in "We're going to help them take pictures of these clothes!", not "You are so gorgeous that they want you in their catalog." You know ?

Absolutely! Even if it wasn't paid in money, I would do it! When my sister and I were little we window modeled for limited too and got paid in clothes! It was totally awesome!

Meh. I think it would not be worth the time and effort.

I would and have considered it. There are some baby models in my family and it's been a fun experience! They don't do it more than maybe once a month if even.
Oh, and they don't get to keep the clothes.

I laugh at the thought. At this age (13- months) she goes into serious mode when getting her picture taken by a stranger. She has a pretty impressive scowl that probably wouldn't be considered desirable! She smiled once during her 1-year pictures after I made barking noises....I tried everything !

Sure if they could get her comfortable to take a good picture lol

No. People tell me all the time my LO looks like a Gerber baby and could be a baby model. And when I laugh and say thanks, they are like "no, seriously. Seriously." I joke that if we lived in California we'd go for it, but there isn't a market in Montana! (Not to brag, I mean, kids got our DNA, I know those good looks don't last long past 5!! But he IS cute!)
But I feel really uncomfortable using him in any way he can't give consent to. I won't take him to political campaigns or rallies or use his picture for anything work related.
But, if it really came down to it, I might just for the money/clothes and to see what it was like! But just once!

Yes I think it would be fun! It would be a great way to get amazing professional photos of my LO and score some college funds too.

@jedeve: i've thought the same thing for LO, but it's a LOT of work even living in CA. it's a full time job to bring these kids out to casting, etc. my SIL is a producer, so i half-jokingly said, so can we get LO into this or what and she said it's super intense.
i would do it if they came knocking, but i'm too lazy to bring her around!

@birdofafeather: yeah I wouldn't really do it in CA either! I don't see the appeal of spending all your time doing something your LO won't give a rip about. Does it pay well?
pineapple / 12053 posts
@jedeve: i think it can if they're in a national campaign, but it's extremely competitive and it definitely is one of those things that seems cooler than it is. (coming from someone who lived in LA) it sounds like if you're committed to getting out there, you/your kid can get some money from it. but i would get burnt out quick and i definitely couldn't handle it if i had to hear negative things about my kid's looks, etc.
ETA: i was hoping SIL would say, oh yeah, here's a hookup! but apparently it's not that easy.

Sure! We just got contacted by Tea Collection and Wagon Jr. has been featured in some marketing materials for Uppa Baby. No pay, just some free and discounted products. They're a local company and recruited some local volunteer families for a photo shoot.
I just like it for the fun experience and possible free and/or discounted product!

Nah.
We've been approached a few times but it doesn't seem worth it to me. There's not that much money involved and at this point I'd have to take off work to bring her to gigs. If I was home with her and she expressed an interest if consider it, but it doesn't make sense for me to lose income for her to make a couple hundred bucks.
Also, I'm REALLY not interested in raising Amanda Bynes.

Only if it paid enough to justify the time commitment and make a substantive contribution to his college fund. I would have no interest in doing it for the experience.

I think it would be fun to do one time! I've also heard that it's a lot of work/little money though.

So it wasn't a clothing line---but my little sister did a Cheetos print ad when she was about 8 (ish) and got paid $3000 for a 2 hour photo shoot, plus a 1 year supply of Cheetos and wonder bread, which used to be owned by Frito lay.
My mom wasn't thrilled with the year supply part---I remember it sitting in our garage and then mysteriously disappearing. I think she donated to a food pantry--she didn't allow much junk food in the house.
My parents put that $3000 in a couple of CDs and when my sister went to college, she used it to buy a used car (I think my parents kicked in half and her savings from the Ad paid the other half).
