Nothing for us. Dh worked nye night and stopped for McDonalds on his way home. He made it by 11 so we rang in the New Year sitting on the couch watching TiMER on Netflix.
My grandma makes all the superstitious foods, but I don't make a point to eat it.
If my cycle is to be believed, AF is due Monday and I'm having symptoms, but again, I don't trust my body at all.

I definitely fell asleep before midnight . . . no special foods but I'm trying to detoxify all the Christmas junk with some green smoothies!
AF came early on 1/1 for me (already knew it was BFN) so happy to start a new cycle - hoping for IUI around 1/15. My first BFP was 1/31/11 (also my first chemical) so I'm hopeful that karma could bring me a sticky baby this month, 3 years later!

@Mrs. Polish: I've never heard of pork and kraut! I don't eat anything, but think it's a fun tradition. Maybe I'll start. My mom always makes a strata and coffee cake for Christmas, and it wouldn't feel the same without that.
@bhbee: did an IUI work for you last time? Will you take any meds? I could use some green smoothie recipes--do you have one to share?
My update: I went to the RE this morning and am working on being positive. My lining was up to 8ish, which is good, and there is one mature follicle. I was hoping, however, that I would have at least 2 with the increased med dosage. The doctor said there's a 99.5% chance I'll trigger this afternoon, and if my husband doesn't freak out again, IUI tomorrow morning!

@Happygal: So happy to hear that you are on your way to being able to do an IUI tomorrow. I have my FX that your DH is ready to take this next step
@Mrs. Polish: Glad that Mr.Polish made it home in time to ring in the NY. I hope your symptoms are going to result is the best kind of surprise Stranger things have happened!
@bhbee: Looks like we will be IUI buddies. I expect mine to be sometime between the 12th and 15th depending on how I respond to the Femera. Are you on any meds?

Any fun new year celebrations? Our new years eve was pretty relaxed. We had dinner with my grandparents and then watched a movie. My SO had to be up at 4:30 am for work on the 1st so he was asleep before midnight. I gave him a smooch at midnight and then turned in since I had to be at the RE at 7:15am!
Do you eat the superstitious foods? (Black eyed peas, pork and kraut). I have never heard of these. Are they for good luck @Mrs. Polish: ? We follow some similar traditions for Chinese New Year..
Updates? I am starting my first IUI cycle with the new RE and expect to have the IUI sometime between the 12th and 15th depending on my response to the meds.
Also we got my SO's most recent SA results back (our first re-test since starting with the ND in May). His count almost doubled since the last test and his motility went from about 30% to 80%!!!!!!!!! This test indicated that he was in the "normal" range for all parameters (granted still at the low end of normal but hey... ). We are really please with these results.

@mrswin: my grandma swears they're good luck. One brings luck and the other prosperity...but i don't know which is which. One isn't working though.

@Mrs. Polish: I've never heard of the superstitious foods for NYE! Our tradition is just chinese take-out with friends, haha.
@bhbee: Karma's a bitch but she owes you one! Good luck!
@Happygal: I hope you get to finally do your IUI! Fingers crossed!
@mrswin: great news about your DH's results!
Update: I started stimming for my first IVF cycle yesterday! The Gonal-F was easy-peasy (well, DH did it). I have a pre-surgery physical today, in the snow storm (eek!) and then monitoring on Saturday.

@mrswin: @happygal: I never got to IUI last time because I did 4 clomid cycles without it and #4 worked after 2 other chemicals. that was on 100mg clomid.
this time I am doing 50mg clomid, ovidrel trigger and IUI plus endometrin. this RE is more proactive about everything. last time I triggered on CD13 so hoping for similar results. we're back to 50mg as I'm more normal post-partum than I used to be so we're hoping it will work. I only had 1 follicle last time which is ok because we'd prefer a singleton but does lowers the odds each time.
for smoothies - I am doing the Simple Green Smoothies challenge. it's free to sign up and you get recipes and a shopping list to make it super easy. only 2 days in but loving it so far!

I rang in the New Year with my best friend and her DD as both our DH had to work!
Me and Dh went out to dinner New Years Day that is a tradition we usually do!
Updates: I am on day 6 of 7days of Provera to start AF...so far the meds are not making me feel to bad other then emotional.......
Based on timelines of our last IUIs I am hoping AF comes 3-4 days after tomorrow so I would go in for CD3 ultrasound around 1/8 start Clomid and have IUI around 1/18-1/20 but that is the timeline in my head....lo, hope my body listens.....lo,
Speaking of Provera making me emotional.......I balled like a baby today after DH and I did the deed in the shower this morning...he informed me "that it has been 4 days since last time...but its not like it matters........."
I know what he meant meaning that there is no way I would get PG at this point with the meds and such and our IUI is a few weeks out so its ok that he was ...backed up for a few ....but I began to cry and I said don't think that way it always matters........I don't want him to think I don't care so I will not care if days go by and we don't BD..........
Actually now reading this it was pretty silly......but thanks to the meds I got all upset!!!!!!!

@mrswin: Wow! That's great news about your husband's SA results. Has he been doing anything to help things? Are you liking your new RE?
@Shutterbug: please keep us updated on things! I'm excited and hopeful this is the cycle for you. Has it started to snow there yet?
@bhbee: is there a reason you are seeing a new RE? I've seen all three doctors at the practice I go to now and they all have such different approaches.
@FaithFertility: I hope your body listens as well! I know intimacy can take a hit with infertility, so I understand what you were feeling and don't think it's silly.
nectarine / 2433 posts
@Mrs. Polish: Gotta trust the grandma on this one....hopefully both of them will start working
@Shutterbug: I'm very excited that you are starting your stims! FX this cycle gets you a BFP
@bhbee: Best of luck with the cycle. I am going to have to look into the smoothies you mentioned.
@FaithFertility: So sorry lady, I hate feeling like it doesn't matter (and after 25 cycles I do feel that way sometimes) and I would cry too if my SO said that, its not silly at all. I hope your body co-operates so you can get on with your IUI
@Happygal: My ND put him on some supplements she felt would be helpful given his issues and since I have been on a low GI diet he has been eating a little better (i.e. less carbs, etc) by default.

Any fun new year celebrations? Not really, we stayed home and played pool and darts.
Do you eat the superstitious foods? (Black eyed peas, pork and kraut) I've never even heard of this! Sounds like a fun tradition though.
Updates? I haven't been on HB much lately, since this current cycle was a med free and testing cycle. My RE thought I should ovulate even without Clomid, since it would still be in my system after 5 cycles on it, but I didn't. At least we got the HSG and SA out of the way though, and all looks good on those fronts. So I'm just hanging out, waiting for this lame cycle to end in a few days so we can move forward with our first injectables + IUI cycle. I'm nervous about the shots, but getting antsy to get this show on the road!

@mrswin: Thanks, after talking to DH I know what he meant ...our RE is big on not waiting longer than 3days of abstaining to ensure the best sperm is available day of our IUI I GUESS HE WAS REFERRING TO THAT THAT IS HAD BEEN OVER THE 3DAYS SINCE LAST TIME SO HIS SPERMIES WERE PROB NOT THE BEST........BUT ITWOULD NOT MATTER SINCE IM ABOUT TO START AF AND SUCH.....SO I GET WHAT HE WAS SAYING BUT I HATE THE FACT THAT INFERTILTIY STATS ARE SUCH A HUGE PART IN OUR LIVES EVEN HE THINKS ANOUBT IT.......
AGAIN SORRY FOR ALL CAPS......MY PHONE DOES IT ON THIS SITE....LOL

@bhbee: @mrswin: @FaithFertility: Looks like lots of us will have IUIs around the same time in mid-January. Good luck to all of you!
pomelo / 5000 posts
@mrswin: that's great. I love hearing positive stories about diet changes and health.
I forgot to mention what we did on New Year's Eve--I stayed at home with my husband and dog. We've been binge watching the Sopranos, so we did that and paused to watch about 30 minutes of the year in review shows and the ball dropping. We drank champagne and reflected on the year, talking about the good things and our hopes for the new year.
@Sprite: hi! I'm glad you're back! Shots the first night were scary for me, but it's not a big deal once you get pass that mental hurdle of sticking yourself. And yes, a bunch of people will be doing IUIs around the same time, which is fun! (Maybe fun isn't the right word? I'm glad there will be a bunch of people in the same boat for support.)
@FaithFertility: ha--it cracks me up when your phone switches like that!

Any fun new year celebrations? We were *that* couple who were in bed by 10:00 on NYE. Hub had to work yesterday because they started using this new computer system, so his boss told us to go out to dinner and put it on the company credit card.
Do you eat the superstitious foods? (Black eyed peas, pork and kraut) I've never heard of this.
Updates? I'm about halfway through a non-medicated cycle. I thought I was feeling pinchies around lefty earlier in the week, but I can't confirm if I actually did O on my own as I didn't use any OPKs. I'm not expecting anything this cycle - we weren't very diligent in getting the timing right.

@Happygal: soooo are you triggering tonight?!?!?!?? So hopeful.for you!!!!!!! Best of luck tomorrow keep is posted!!!!!

@Sprite: Shots are not soo bad....I did Gonal-f in preperation for my first IUI ....easy as pie...but mu body went Crazy and I had over 14 eggs
.......lol IUI cancled!!!!!!!
pomelo / 5000 posts
@FaithFertility: Yes---I triggered at 2:15 today! We drop of the goods at 10 and the IUI is at 11. I'm glad it's a little later than usual b/c we're getting yucky weather right now, so hopefully the roads will be fine. My husband still seems calm, but I'm holding my breath.
Black eyed peas are put out on display in most of our grocery stores around here. Is it maybe a regional thing?
@just_ju: hi! Did you get to dine with your husband?

@Happygal: Good luck tomorrow! Yay how exciting!!!
Will you POAS or wait for betas? If you POAS we might be doing it around the same time
@Sprite: Good luck! Injectables really aren't so bad. Like @Happygal said, it's mostly getting past the first one. I was a disaster my first shot, it took me over an hour and a phone call to Freedom Fertility. The next one only took 10 mins You'll do great!
@FaithFertility: Glad you're almost done with that Provera! On to the next cycle!
Nothing majorly new for me, plus I just updated the IVF thread! Sorry for double posting the IVF gals - just have a check in with the RE tomorrow and hoping that we get an exact transfer date. I hope they are like "oh hey! Look at that, you're ready for transfer on Saturday!" It won't happen, but a girl can dream
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Mrs. Polish: Your NYE is my dream scenario. DH always wants to go out with friends, dinner and a party. But it's so annoying to go out on NYE in NYC. I just want to order a nice dinner, drink champagne, kiss at midnight and fall asleep. I've never been in my bed when the ball drops!
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@Happygal: I mostly switched REs for convenience, but I do like that the newer one is more proactive. but like you say all just different. my old RE did my testing but they didn't even monitor with clomid - just would have had me call when my OPK turned + to schedule the IUI (which was scheduled the cycle after our success). luckily I don't think clomid has a tendency to overstimulate me but who knows what it looked like for my success cycle.
this RE has given me the option to be as proactive as I want, pretty much, with the exception of talking me down from 100mg clomid. he really does not like to see multiples. so while he's more willing to take "can't hurt might help" steps, he's more careful. I respect that . . . even if it is frustrating to not have more chances.

@Happygal: good luck with the weather! I am not looking forward to trudging through the snow at 7am for my CD3 . . . hopefully things let up!

@SweetiePie: I will probably POAS on 14 dpo. I thought about testing it the trigger, but I've never seen a BFP and I think I want the first time that happens to be the real deal. I was trying to catch an update from you on other threads-is the 7th still a likely date?
@bhbee: 7 a.m in the snow doesn't sound like a good time! I look forward to hearing a good update though.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Happygal: so the 16th? I don't think I can hold out that long You have a strong resolve! I'm going to start testing as early as possible which I read is 4dp5dt! Should be around the 12th.
I think my transfer will be the 7th or 8th based on meds and scans the last week.
I can't wait to see what January brings for all of us!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@bhbee: Ditto! My RE is open from 7am-8:30am for monitoring and I'm currently getting pummeled with snow. Ugh, will be miserable!
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@Happygal: I tested out the trigger last cycle and it was kind of depressing - I was glad I did it once as I like little science experiments but depressing to see it get lighter . . . lighter . . . and then nothing. I'm not doing it again this cycle.
in other words I totally support you waiting to test! at least until 12dpo if not 14 . . .

Hello everyone!!
Been away from HB because I went home for the holidays.
Holidays were great because I was around my family. Went paintballing for the first time with my brother, nephew and their friends. It was fun but it hurt when I got hit. Then went skiing a few days later. I haven't been skiing for snout 8 years. Considering I went paintballing a few days earlier, I wasn't that sore. Definitely want to get back to skiing when I get home. I've been in Seattle for 5 years and have never gone skiing. Guess I was afraid of falling like I did 8 years ago.
As for New year food, no, didn't but I love sauerkraut so I'll probably make some this weekend.
Updates: none. Since AF was a delayed, I wasn't able to fit an IUI in before Christmas. So we will do our last and final IUI in January. I think AF is suppose to come Jan 9th.
On other news, our apartment lease is up in Feb so we are looking at houses to rent. I'm excited about living in a house! Oh. Another minor update... We adopted a second dog a few days before Christmas! It"s a cocker spaniel that we named Paulie.
We are now a family of 4. Renting a house we give us a fenced yard for the dogs and a possible nursery. Looking forward to 2014!!

@bluestriped bee: Sounds like fun! How exciting! I'm jealous, I want a house so badly but we (DH) aren't ready to leave the city yet.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@FaithFertility: @SweetiePie: thank you.
Oh, I left out another update. My brother and SIL announced they are pregnant with their third child. They will have 3 children under the age of 4! I am happy for them, though, but a part of wonders why it's so easy for them and so hard for me.
