So...I called today to make my appointment for my pelvic ultrasound and they told me to come in for 1 PM today! I'm a bit nervous but that's okay.

@babycanuck: Good luck! It's great that they were able to see you so quickly!

Ok so that was kind of awkward but whatever lol I wish I could have seen the screen, and these ultrasound techs are stone faced!!

@Happygal: yes done with clomid - last night was one big hot flash but hoping it gets better from here. I'm excited to move on to ovulation next week hopefully!

@bhbee: good! I'm glad you only had one hot flash. Will you be doing an IUI?
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@Happygal: haha no it's been hot flashes since I started. I'm just hoping as the meds start to leave my system it will get better.
We're just doing ti this time - insurance didn't want to pay for another iui, which will probably get resolved by next cycle but I just needed a break too. Just to do things a little differently.

@bhbee: it's good to mix things up! I didn't know you've been a steady hot flash gal. From your reply, I was imagining one big, very dramatic, hot flash. I wonder why that happens?
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@Happygal: it's actually related to menopausal hot flashes. Clomid makes your body perceive a lack of estrogen, which then causes your pituitary to create more Lh and fsh to help you ovulate. In menopause you have a real lack of estrogen so it's the same effect - hot flashes and night sweats. (I hope my limited scientific knowledge got that right! I love knowing how things work.)

@Happygal: haha I received my degree after many years studying under dr google

@Happygal: Thanks sooo much! I was actually just wondering if I was supposed to let the meds come to room temp first. The instructions on the box are a bit confusing! Yikes.... getting nervous!
apricot / 305 posts
@babycanuck: Yeah, it's frustrating that the techs can't tell you anything, but one did tell me that if there was anything really wrong, they would get a doc to see me right away. So hopefully no news is good news!

@bhbee: Yay to being done with the meds! Wow, hot flashes from Clomid? Here I was complaining to DH about my achy-ness from the letrozole/femara and told him to blame the meds if I became irritable with him (per @happygal). Also, the nurse at RE's office explained to me how Femara and Clomid work very much the way you explained it as I had told my RE that I wanted a dumbed down, person off the street version of what he was saying with the information overload that I received in my appointment with him.
@mrswin: thanks! FX for a successful IUI!
@mrsbunchy: 15 sounds awesome! My RE told me anything >10 would be positive for the CD21 progesterone, unfortunately I was at 1.4 in January. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.
@faithfertility: I hope going old school is going well for you.
@babycanuck: I hope you get some answers soon!
@thisisme: yikes! I don't think I'd be able to stick a needle in myself. Good luck!

@lazypanda: Thanks so far so good I just have to kick the feeling of is not really doing any meds and such and that it is ok, I just feel like I am wasting time......but I have to have faith and enjoy our marriage and our down time!!!!!!!

@lazypanda: Thanks so far so good I just have to kick the feeling of us not really doing any meds and such and that it is ok, I just feel like I am wasting time......but I have to have faith and enjoy our marriage and our down time!!!!!!!

@lazypanda: I've pretty much told DH anytime we're ttc hormones make me crazy and it's his cross to bear because they have a lot less physical stuff to deal with in treatments! I swear I am crazy emotional on meds, off meds ... Clomid stays in your system a long time so I like to blame that too

@FaithFertility: @Happygal: The IUI went really well. I explained to the NP that the last time I had a lot of cramping during the procedure and it never really went away during the TWW. She was really good, took her time and I haven't had any cramping since the procedure on Saturday

@MrsTal: Good luck with this cycles. Glad AF finally showed up for you
@babycanuck: I saw you other thread and I know you are a fellow Canadian bee. The techs will never let you see the screen here because of liability reasons, even when a doctor does the ultrasound. Don't hesitate to tell them if the ultrasound is painful sometimes they don't realize how rough they are, although sometimes my right ovary likes to "hide" so the tech has to go digging around to find it!

@bhbee: Sorry about the hot flashes lady, these stories always make me thankful that I have very few symptoms on Femera Good luck with the TI this cycle
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@mrswin: thank you and fx for your tww! Less symptoms is one of several reasons I want to try femara

@thisisme: how did the first night go?
@lazypanda: Oh, I'm glad I imparted a valuable lesson to you!
@mrswin: I'm glad it went well! When is your beta?
@bhbee: I only took Clomid once, so I don't have that much experience to compare it to, but femara did feel much easier to me.
nectarine / 2433 posts
@Happygal: My beta is the 24th, which would be 16dpo so I will probably go on the 22nd, regardless I will POAS a couple of days before that! How is it being med free?
pomelo / 5000 posts
@mrswin: med free is fine! I think my body is appreciating a little break. I know my spirits were ready for a breather.

@thisisme: regarding the meds being at room temp (sorry, I see this is from two days ago!) with the Gonal-F, the nurse told me to take it out of the fridge about 2 hrs before the first shot, and then leave it out for the rest of the cycle (it was a multi-dose pen... not sure what meds you're using). I don't think it's essential, I think it just helps the shots not hurt as much.

So the devil came this morning !!!! Clomid starts again friday! Scheduled the mid-cycle u/s and it all starts over from here. Feeling sad today DH even asked why we're not working. So, naturally I hold in my tears until my drive into work..
pomelo / 5000 posts
@mrs bunchy: damn it! I was so hoping your silence meant that you were holding onto a BFP secret. I'm so sorry. I wish we could meet up for a drink tonight!
kiwi / 533 posts
@Happygal: I could use several drinks!! So stressful. The first day of AF is always the worst. I feel like the longer we try, the harder it is (duh). At this next appt we will evaluate where we are and hope to see a specialist to get this ball rolling. It's just so sad that DH is starting to get discouraged too.. I honestly try to be this really tough person... But this is getting rough!!

@mrs bunchy: I raised my beer glass in your honor! Have you been solely working with an OB at this point? I felt so relieved when we started to talk to an RE.
Do you talk about this with any friends or family?
kiwi / 533 posts
@Happygal: I'm still at work til 8.. So I have some time before I can cheers! Yes, solely with OB right now. I think we were in denial about us not working correction: me not working**. I talk to a select group of girls at work. Family knows the basics of our struggles and the M/C, but I don't necesarily want to sulk to them, I am sure it is hard for them to see what I am going through. It's sometimes just easier to tear up on my 45 min drive home and then wait for those emotions again the next month. I'm dying to get a necklace from Kate Spade that says find the silver lining.. Kinda remind myself we will get through this.. (On my bday wish list)
pomelo / 5000 posts
@mrs bunchy: Yes, you will have a silver lining to all of this! I'm going to look at that necklace now.....I'm glad you (and me!) have this HB group.

@Happygal: Not bad! I iced first and didn't even realize the needle had gone in! The menopur is a bit more uncomfortable, but it's not unbearable. Now I'm just hoping we can get to tomorrow's appointment with all this snow!
apricot / 305 posts
@Shutterbug: Thanks! I'm doing gonal-f, too, along with menopur. So far so good!
