Hi ladies!
My favorite comfort food? Hmm...so many, seeing as my relationship with food is unhealthy and emotionally dependant as it is, haha. I love middle eastern stew-type meals and I love mashed potatoes and gravy when I need comfort.
Updates on me:
Doctor called me and said he wants a 2nd round of cd3 b/w because I had elevated thyroid on my last one. I didn't asked the #, but cd3 for me is tomorrow, so b/w tomorrow. 3 days later is our RE consult and "3m plan" as our office calls it. I beleive it will entails details on what to do about the heart shaped uterus, the thyroid and possibly the 40 cysts they found.

@Leialou: how are you feeling? Your embryos looked lovely
I can't believe it's already almost June!
My favorite comfort food is mac & cheese. Yummmm.
No updates from me. Still waiting on blood test results (nothing urgent, so I'm just getting a letter). The new clinic doesn't have an online patient portal like my old clinic... I hate waiting for test results! They did say they're in the process of transitioning to a new EMR system that includes a patient portal, but they don't expect it to go live for a few months.

Does a giant bottle of wine count as comfort food? =)
Officially in the TWW, just did IUI yesterday. Progesterone check 6/4, and blood preg 6/11 if no period. I'll probably just cancel that and wait until the 13th to see if my period starts, then do blood work if it hasn't yet. No need to stick my arm again and pay for it until I'm late.
@Shutterbug: oh my goodness, I'd go nuts waiting for results! I was on the patient portal yesterday every hour waiting for my results to post from my blood test that morning!
kiwi / 636 posts
Like @Shutterbug: mac & cheese is one of mine as well although my very favorite would have to be chicken noodle soup or wonton noodle soup.
I'm just waiting around for my u/s this weekend. After last weekend's horrendous cry fest, DH & I are planning a vacation (maybe Hawaii) if this next cycle is to be unmedicated. If IUI#2 works, then we'll see the vacation as an early babymoon.

I think chocolate cake is my favorite comfort food. That or mashed potatoes.
I think y'all know my update. We transferred two embryos yesterday and now I'm just waiting. My blood test is sometime in the next two weeks, not sure the date.

My favorite comfort food is definitely mac & cheese. Yum!
Updates:
I have an u/s tomorrow and blood work. I also have an appointment with the nurse practitioner at my RE's office to get checked out before I start stims on Saturday. Saturday I will cut my Lupron dose in half and then start on the Gonal-f and Meonpur injections. We are still looking at the week of 06/09 as the retrieval/transfer week.
DH and I are going to pick out our new puppy on Saturday. We don't get to bring her home until 06/23, but it will be so much fun to meet her for the first time! I'll take pictures

@CupQuakeWalk: My TSH was 3.45. My RE wants it no higher than 2, especially during IVF. Apparently having it between 1-2 is optimal for conception purposes. I am on Levothyroxine and I am taking 75 mcg, I'll let you know my results as soon as I get them from tomorrow's blood work. My guess is the lab will be lazy because it's Friday and they won't put them into the online portal until Monday. We'll see though!

@MrsWin: I am due for Day 1 of my next cycle on the same day as you. June 22! I will probably be called in Monday and start BCP for three weeks then as well. So it seems you and I could be starting within a day of each other. We could end up having retrieval/transfer the same day possibly.
@Leialou: Just saw your two embryos in the other thread. Beautiful!! All the best and hope you are feeling good. Glad to hear it went well!!

@Sunshine1810: Oh my goodness! They're way too stinkin' cute! I hope your bloodwork comes back below 2!
Ugh. It's been a yucky week in terms of TTC for us if you read my posts in the other thread. We were so excited that we were finally trying IUIs with DH's improved results last month. I was on 50mg Clomid. Today is 13dpo and no AF yet and still high temps, but I don't have much hope because my progesterone level at 7dpo was just 4.4 (Since I wouldn't get the results until Tuesday I was told to go ahead with the progesterone Friday afternoon right after they took the test).
Anyway, we met with our RE yesterday who says that it looks like I don't ovulate well. He's open to trying femara, but doesn't think it's any different than Clomid. He says he would be open to trying 100mg Clomid and see if my progesterone is higher in the future, but won't do any more IUIs until we confirm a strong ovulation for me.
Has anyone else had bad experience with Clomid with this? I'm pretty confident I always ovulate on my own (really easy and clear temperature charts and clear OPKs), so I'm wondering if Clomid just gets my hormones out of whack instead of just helping boost follicle stimulation in my case. Sigh.
So, next month we are just doing testing, FSH and testosterone (per my request) on Day 3 and OPK and progesterone testing 7dpo to see where I am on my own. My levels on my own have always been around 9, which I know isn't great, but definitely indicate ovulation. But, our RE is really against supplementing with progesterone. He says that you get higher progesterone if you get stronger FSH surge the first part of the cycle, so that's where we need to focus. But, it looks like Clomid was bad for me. We'll see what he says after the results, but we'll definitely get a second opinion at that point.
It's discouraging because he pretty much said that if 100mg Clomid doesn't "work" for me than we have to do IVF because he doesn't want to do any actual FSH injections because there would be too many follicles. It just seems so crazy that both DH and I could have these fertility issues in our 20s! Sheesh! Plus, I just don't understand why he's so opposed to ultrasound monitoring. Grrr...
2 questions-
1. For those of you that have tried both Clomid and Femara, what was your experiences like on both? Did you produce more follicles on one vs the other and how did your progesterone levels compare?
2. If you took Prometrium, how did it change your luteal phase, if at all. I took a hpt today (13dpo since my lp is usually just 12 days) and it was negative, so I'm assuming that the Prometrium is just lengthening my cycle, even though I didn't start taking it until day 7. I plan to keep taking it until AF starts. I'm so hesitant to stop it "just in case" we were in that 1% and got lucky.

@CupQuakeWalk: just chiming in with more TSH data My original test was 3.8, then they put me on 25mcg of Levothyroxine, tested again in a month, level was 3.5, dose upped to 50mcg, level consistently under 2 (1.67 last week) since then.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Mrs. Pinata: Femara made me O earlier, but only one follicle. Clomid made me O earlier than unmedicated (I'm a late ovulater) but about two days later than Femara, and usually with 2 follicles. I've never taken Prometrium, but Endometrin (similar) increased my LP from 10 days to 14 days. Crinone (gel) didn't have an effect on my LP.

@lazypanda: Thanks for updating the list!!
@Mrs. Pinata: I tried both Clomid and Femera and found that the side effects of Clomid sucked! I hated being on it. The dizziness made me uncomfortable. I don't know how the follicles were affected since I was just on Clomid to run the Clomid challenge test to see my hormone levels. I don't think they looked at follicles. If they did, it was normal or similar to when I was on Femera.
I know for me when I was on Femera that I needed to have an off cycle after being on it. (So IUI then skip a month.) I think it's just how my body reacted to the meds. I'm thinking that being on Clomid would have done the same thing.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
Oh, my favorite comfort food is mac and cheese or spaghetti with meat sauce.
LazyPanda already updated the list, but in summary...
I'm on cycle 23! (Hopefully, lucky 23!) I'm currently on CD 6 and on femera. I will go in for ultrasound on CD10 then IUI (#4) (with trigger shot) should be around June 6th. What's different about this IUI will be that I'll be on metformin and dexamethasone to treat my PCOS and DOR. Also, this is the first IUI at my new clinic. New RE, 2 IUI inseminations (instead of 1), New diagnosis and finally meds! Hoping that is just what I need get my BFP!!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@Mrs. Pinata: I have used both Clomid (4x) and Femera (1x). I don't have much Femera data, but I produced more follicles much sooner with Clomid than on Femera. With Clomid (100mg) I usually had 3-4 follicles larger than 13mm by CD14, though 1 was clearly the dominant one. With Femera, I didn't have anything measurable until CD17, just one 9mm follicle. But then suddenly by CD21 I was ovulating so something very odd happened b/c my follies were usually developing spot on at 2mm/day. Clomid also definitely thinned my lining, down to almost 6mm, vs 11mm with Femera.
I took Endomitrin one cycle, and it did delay my period. I took it until 15 dpo and then my period started 2 or 3 days after stopping it. And it was also super short, only 2 days when I usually bleed for 3-5. I wont know about how progesterone compares until my 7dpo draw next wed, but yesterday, I think 1pdo or day of O, it was at a 4. My Clomid cycle 7dpo level was 15.
Is progesterone and indicator of how strong ovulation was? My doctor has told me that statically, Clomid and Femera have the same success rate, but there many cases where Femera will work for someone where Clomid did not. My RE also does not prefer to use injectables other than with IVF for the same reason yours stated. ... wait a second, if he doesnt do ultrasound monitoring, how do you time IUIs or TI?
blogger / pear / 1563 posts
@PurplePumps: Just with OPKs. And confirmed with temperature shift. Just with OPKs is cheaper, so I didn't mind doing it a few times since I thought everything was ok on my end. But, I guess now my system is just a mess.
And I did get the feeling from him that progesterone tests the strength of the ovulation.

@Sunshine1810: Your cycle is moving along pretty quickly, your ER will be here in no time!
@Jenn23: Wow! It looks like our timing will be very similar, I'm glad someone else will be going through it at the same time
@Mrs. Pinata: Sorry he is really resistant to monitoring because it would provide you with additional information for sure. I only ever took Femera and it made me ovulate a couple of days earlier, usually 2 follicles. Progesterone definitely lengthened my cycle and AF didn't come until 2 or 3 days after I stopped taking it.

@PurplePumps: Thank you! I can't wait to hold them!
@Jenn23: I can't wait to bring her home! Not too long! June is definitely going to be a big month for us!
@Mrs. Pinata: Thanks, I hope it does too! To be honest with you I don't know what Clomid did to my cycles. I do know that it delayed my ovulation, but I didn't have ultrasound monitoring, and my IUIs with Clomid didn't work. My RE also does not do injections without IVF. My previous RE had done a lot of research and trials with injections and IUIs which did not show that much more success than Clomid IUIs, and he felt it was too difficult to control the cycle and avoid high order multiples. I haven't tried femara so I can't help too much there. Good luck! I am sorry that the Clomid didn't work for you. One of my friends had better luck ovulating with Femara, also less side effects!
@Shutterbug: Your TSH numbers give me hope!! I'm so nervous!

@Mrs. Pinata: oh man, that is a bummer. I'm sorry. I did take both femara and clomid, but I don't know my follicles or progesterone levels. I don't understand why they would skip injectables.
@bluestriped bee: fingers crossed the new diagnosis and meds do the trick for you! Are you settled into your new home?

The good news is, that this surgery has given me hope, and renewed my faith in myself. I really, truly, think I have probably been depressed for the last 8 months. My last dr. made me doubt myself so much, I thought maybe I was just crazy and that nothing was really wrong. I'm amazed at how much more self-control and energy (even at exactly 1 week post op) I have now than I did before.

@Mrs. Pinata: Seriously, I think that sometimes Dr's make it worse. Trust your gut, you may not be able to explain WHY your body is reacting how it is to the clomid, but if YOU think it may be making things worse, that is a valid concern! Big hugs are headed your way

@Sunshine1810: That one is adorable! I would go for her too…but DH and I wouldn't be able to handle a puppy. Good luck with your bloodwork and u/s tomorrow!
@CupQuakeWalk: What testing do they want done for you for your cd3 bloodwork? I hope you get that 3 month plan sooner rather than later! My TSH levels were 1.56 and according to my doctors, the standard range is 0.10 - 5.50 uIU/mL.
@PurplePumps: FX for you! Hmm, wine is made from grapes, I say count that in as comfort food!
@Jenn23: yay for starting your IVF cycle soon! Thank you for asking about me in the other thread, I was in such a horrible frame of mind over the weekend as a result of the clomid but feeling much better now!
@Mrs. Pinata: Boo for not ovulating! My RE prescribed Femara for me as the first round of meds, they were unmonitored cycles and it was determined that I did not ovulate on 2.5mg and 5mg of Femara. My progesterone was 1.4 and 0.9 respectively on the Femara cycles. Because I did not ovulate on Femara, my RE put me on 150 mg of clomid for my 3rd medicated cycle with TI and had me come in for cd13 monitoring. My progesterone was 19.2 on that cycle and a weird faint positive at the end of the cycle which may have been a chemical pregnancy. My IUI #1 cycle I was on clomid again with monitoring and my progesterone level was 27.2! This resulted in a chemical pregnancy. I did not feel any side effects from the femara (at least not that I could remember now). For the first 2 cycles of clomid, I only noticed that I was irritable. This past weekend and my 3rd cycle on clomid was horrendous! I felt so depressed and just not myself. It was not fun or pleasant at all. I'm really hoping I do not have to go back to feeling that way. The good thing that I see from that experience is that I can have greater empathy for those who have chronic depression. It takes a lot of will power to even have to put up with feeling like crap. With all that being said, I really hope that you are able to find something that will work! Oh, and for the clomid cycles, I had 3 follicles that developed.
@bluestriped bee: FX that you get your BFP! I'm really happy that you have a diagnosis to work with and an RE who you feel comfortable and confident about!
@mrswin: Which soft cheese do you like? I'm partial to gouda and brie. We'll most likely go to Oahu as I have friends who live there and one friend just had her rainbow baby! DH and I have been to Oahu several times but never with each other. We're looking forward to all the ramen places and being able to go hiking too.
@Happygal: I'm feeling so much better! Thanks for asking! How are you doing? Have you been POAS-ing every few days just to see the darkening lines? Have you tried the OPK testing too?
@owlteach: I'm glad you're feeling better and more hopeful. Being depressed really sucks the life out of a person. The fact that you are able to recognize for yourself that you were in that funk and your motivation to get out of that rut speaks volumes about how strong you are! Also, I'm hoping @MrsTal: luck rubs off on me as she sent me my package.

Hey everyone! I can't believe how active these check-ins have gotten! I took a break from HB for a while after our 3rd IUI failed, but I'm back and ready to jump into things :).
My favorite comfort food is chocolate no bake cookies. So delicious!
Updates: we recently found out that our insurance coverage for infertility treatment changed in January. We used to have a limit on what was paid, but now there is no limit, everything is covered. We are so incredibly lucky to have a great insurance plan. Now that we don't have to worry about cost as much, we will be moving on to IVF, probably this fall (we still have to save for meds, which aren't covered by insurance). I had a phone consult with my RE this past Tuesday to get details about our protocol. I never expected to be this excited about trying IVF.
@Mrs. Pinata: Clomid didn't work for me, but Femara did, as far as ovulation goes. My 7dpo progesterone on Clomid (the 2 times I actually ovulated) was only 8 (indicates poor ovulation). On Femara, it was in the 30-40 range. Also, on Clomid, I would only get one follicle and it took foreverrrrr for it to grow, but with Femara I ovulated sooner (CD15 as opposed to CD22) and I had 2 follies. I hope that things work out for you

I hope everyone is enjoying their week! DH had a semen analysis and while he has a good count, his progressive motility is low so we are going to work on changing his diet and getting him supplements to try and help. He's been seeking out support and input from friends and coworkers who have had similar issues. I'm surprised that he's been so open about it but I also find it really sweet!
I'm waiting for my cycle to start so I can get my CD3 bloodwork done.
Also, I got a job! I'm so relieved and excited. It was the main cause of my stress and anxiety. I'm so relieved to be going somewhere else and now I feel like we can focus more on this whole baby process more than before!
I really do plan to be more active on these weekly threads once the craziness of the school year ends
