I haven't done an IF check-in thread in a while but I thought I would this week!

Spring is making me so happy! The warmth and sunshine are great! Also, I got a new office this week with a lot of windows which has really helped improve my day! My old office was an interior one and having a window just makes so much difference, so I am thankful for that.

Updates: I just paid for my IVF meds over the phone last night and they are being delivered tomorrow! I still can't believe it and almost had to pinch myself! I have my mock transfer on Monday, and then injections class on Wednesday. I should be actually starting my injections on Friday. I am so nervous, but I am excited too! And I am surprisingly optimistic which is not my norm, but it feels good to be this way. It has taken us almost 3 years to get here, but now it feels like it's happening so fast!

@FliegepilzHut: That's great that you're getting your RE paperwork started! I remember feeling much better about things once I took that step.

As for me I'm sort of doing horrible today. I was covering the desk at work and lost it in the public area, had to run in the back and ask my co-worker (who happens to be my BFF, so that was lucky) to cover for me for a few minutes while I tried to get it together. I'm trying to figure out how to fund our IVF without taking on additional debt but still being able to do it this year and I can't find a reasonable solution. I found some grants but I've missed deadlines on a few and one the deadline is next Wednesday and it has a portion that needs to be completed by our doctor, plus an essay from us on why we should get the money. Work is stressing me out because my kids have gotten these 50 page packets of homework to make up for snow days and I have no help (I run a homework assistance program at one of our library branches) and we are gearing up for our busy summer stuff which I am in charge of. I decided to take some mental health PTO tonight and leave early. I have tomorrow off luckily so maybe I will make myself start running to prep for the 5K i signed myself up for a few months back. Ugh, this came out way longer than I wanted it to, sorry about that.

***Treatment updates, going natural for the next few cycles, hopefully starting IVF in August.

@Sunshine1810: wow, finally getting IVF started is something to be excited about. Good luck!

No update here, but I did do the math and even with a 4-5 day variance in my cycles, I could get pregnant next cycle and still be able to finish off the school year at my new job (at an elementary) school next year! I won't have to cut my time short there. I finish my research study project for that school in April. I guess there is some silver lining, although I would've traded the whole opportunity for a baby instead, but whatever.

@MrsTal: i'm so sorry. *hugs* I really really hope somehting comes through for you guys. I might still try with that grant that has the Wednesday deadline.

@MrsTal: Oh and I forgot to add, I have also had those complete meltdowns at work. They are the worst. I'm glad you can take some time for yourself to relax!

@MrsTal: Im so, so sorry about your day. Ive had those days for sure too and theyre so hard! Hang in there! Sending you hugs and some virtual chocolate. Have you expressed concern about cost to your RE? I know sometimes if you explain your situation, show prices at other clinics, and beg, they sometimes have mercy and give a discount. Ive been to my former RE's house (his daughter was a friend of a friend) and it makes me furious that he lives in this gorgeous, expensive house making money off of people like us just trying to make ends meet and have a family!
@FliegepilzHut: That's great youre moving forward! What does your username mean?

@FliegepilzHut: Nice work on getting your paperwork in the mail... what is on the paperwork? Is it like an application?

@MrsTal: Never apologize for a rant being too long, we all completely understand I'm sorry that you had a rough day, I have definitely been there breaking down at work and it's never fun. I'm also sorry that you're feeling stressed about money, it's difficult for sure! It actually makes me irrationally angry that we have to pay for this stuff, it's so unfair.

To everyone that answered my question about age in the previous IF Check In thread, thank you! I am really interested in what people think. I've seen a few doctors who tell me that at 30 I need to get on with treatments, and others who tell me I have lots of time. My dh is concerned about his age too, but I'm not.

AFM - I made a drs appt for next month so we'll see what comes out of that. My chart is still a mess this cycle so I'm really hoping for some insight as to what is going on.

Non IF - I'm in a really weird spot with work right now and I'm scared of making the wrong decision. Right now I'm a contractor until the end of the year, there is a 50% chance that it will go permanent. I am getting offered another contract tomorrow at another company, which is also until the end of the year with a 50% chance of becoming permanent. I have been contracting for 3 years and I'm ready for something permanent now so I really don't know what to do. I feel stressed.

And there's family drama that I really don't want to be dealing with right now.

@Mrs. Pinata: That would make me feel so sad and angry to see a house like that, knowing how he made that money. It's one thing if the dr is a plastic surgeon making money off elective cosmetic things, but when it's something like IF, it just makes me mad.

Sorry to hear about your hand, but other than that I hope you had a great trip! It must have felt nice to get away for a little while

@bhbee: Hi fellow Bostonian!! Isn't it BEAUTIFUL today!! I went out during lunch and just had the biggest smile on my face!
@Mrs. Pinata: oh my goodness! I've never been to a doctor outside the country, I wouldnt even know what to do if I had to. Hope your hand is ok. To do the meds and miss a cycle b/c the doc is out of town sound ridiculous! Isnt there someone else they can refer you to for the IUI to cover for them? Or even somewhere that is open on the weekend. With timing so unpredictable, it sounds like a lot of people would have wasted med cycles if they happen to O over the weekend!

I just picked up my prescription for Femera and will start it Sunday. (4 rounds of failed Clomid. one with IUI, time to try something new) DH is still out of town for a week and a half, so he'll be back just in time for the IUI.

Non IF related, the weather is definitely putting me in a better mood! It's so nice to go out and not be freezing finally! I'm refinishing some cabinets at home and am so excited to finish it's looking awesome so far! And sad, but true, I'm looking forward to painting the house this summer

@PurplePumps: Thank you! Good luck with the Femara and IUI! I never tried the Femara but a few of my friends did and said they found it much better than Clomid, side-effect wise.

@Sunshine1810: glad you're feeling optimistic! That's a big step forward. What is a mock transfer?

@BhBee: I heard Boston in the spring time is beautiful. What time is your beta? I'll be thinking about you!

@MrsTal: you never need to apologize. I'm so sorry things are stressful and sad right now. I think starting to run could be a very positive thing! Are you still going to go for the grant given the tight deadline? What type of info does your doctor need to provide?

@CupQuakeWalk: ooooh, girl. Figuring out EDD is a dangerous thing! That's gotten me into trouble a few times. It is good to be optimistic though. What do you do in schools?

@alohaorchid: sorry I missed your question about age. It's a tough thing to answer. If you look at traditional stats, 35 is the scary age (which is how old I am!) But there is solid science out there discussing these things and can lessen those fears. I think you have to take part of what your doctors recommend, part of what stats tell you, and part of what feels right for you. That is a big decision to make about work, but it is good you have options! Sorry about family drama--that is very draining.

**My update: still in the beginning half of the TWW. Basically trying to ignore any symptoms (not that there are very many!)

We're going camping this weekend at the Virginia shore to celebrate our anniversary. We usually camp in a very lightweight tent, but since we're taking our dog for the first time, I bought a family tent. It is huge and arrived today in the mail!

@Happygal: I've been pretty lucky not to have any side effects from Clomid, so I just hope Femera will be the same way too. I'm about an hour outside of Boston.

@FliegepilzHut: thank you! Was it a lot of paperwork for your RE? How are you feeling about things?

@MrsMcD: It helps to keep things from getting really long, and lets new people contribute without feeling like they have to read through a super long post. It is nice. There have been a few weeks where I've gotten busy and can't check in very much, but knowing we start new the next week lets me feel like I can jump back in!

@bhbee: Gorgeous photo! I hope you get your results soon!

@Happygal: Its still painful, but a lot better than when it was in the huge bandage! We were in the "Tuscan countryside," so I feel like Im not allowed to complain about stitches in such a gorgeous place.

@bhbee: thanks for sharing that cheery picture. Yes, come up with a long morning errand to keep you happily occupied!

@Mrs. Pinata: that is some dreamy countryside. I hope some good wine helped to ease the pain.
