Me deciding to go to church!

My mom had been trying to get me to go for awhile but I hadn't wanted to... after some major not so great things happened I decided to go. We became friends in the young adults group!

    My Dad and DH's Mom!

No, they didn't arrange our marriage lol! But they both work in the insurance industry and despite the fact that we both vowed to enter other fields, we were pushed towards our first job by them which is how we met. I don't think we've ever thanked them formally, but I am EXTREMELY thankful.

A mix of mutual friends, luck and boredom!

We shared one mutual friend, who we'd both known for years, but we'd never crossed paths. I was out with a group of friends, included Mutual Friend. Papa Jumper was living about two hours away at the time, but was bored, and decided to come home for the weekend -- something he hadn't done in a very long time!

He called Mutual Friend to see what he was up to, and MF invited him to hang out with our group. He accepted, we met, and we've been together ever since. That was 7 years ago!

a distant friend of mine vaguely knew DH and "just had a feeling about us" - i refused to be set up with some random guy and by a distant friend, so she pulled a fast one on me and invited us both to a large group event and then threw us together! i have no idea how she knew, but she said the second she met him she randomly thought of me (not knowing if i was single or anything, we are not close)...she was right!

@Mrs. Bee: you could really go so far back with this. Sometimes I think if I hadn't been in every crappy relationship I was in before meeting my husband we never would have met.

But really if I hadn't signed up for a 150 mile two day charity bike ride that we both participated in, we never would have met. And I signed up for it because I thought the guy signing people up was cute...and it wasn't my husband!

Church. We met in youth group in middle school, and became friends a few months later during summer church camp.

It was a string of unfortunate events, ha. I was living & working in another country, but had to leave due to political instability. I started to work in a new country. I went on vacation, and the hotel I was staying in burned to the ground. I made it out fine, but none of my things did (i was in pajamas, no shoes, ha!), including my passport/wallet/etc. I managed to scramble enough money to get home, and the next day went down to the corner store and asked the owner if she could please give me some things on credit. She took pity on me and invited me to stay for lunch...aaand long story short, DH is her younger brother and she's now one of my closest friends!

If I didn't choose my university (I was all set to go to another), I wouldn't have lived at home, applied for a job in town, got rejected from said job, and hired by Starbucks where I met DH!

    Crappy first teenage job!

When I turned 16, I applied for all these trendy, cute, retail (clothing store) jobs. I didn't get an interview for any of them. As a last ditch effort to get some $$, I applied to a sub shop and lo-and-behold, I got hired there. That's where I met DH!!

we never would have met except for me making a risky decision to move and jdate!

I decided to take a job in a new city after college, which was a really difficult, painful decision: all my friends were staying in the city that we went to college in, and I was dating a really nice guy at the time. but it was a really good opportunity--not high paying but well respected, and it was more substantive than other jobs that I'd been applying for (i.e., more research than admin responsibilities).

so I broke up with the guy I was dating and moved. 2 weeks later, via jdate, I met my husband! that was almost 7 years ago now

If it weren't for my overbearing brother we never would have met. I worked with my brother but was tired of the crap that he was always having me do but not having anyone else do. So I transferred to a different location and my now hubby was an employee there.

I "sexually harassed" him and the rest is history.
